Bible English | Matthew 5/ 17-20 |
Lecture English | 18 * You have not approached that which could be touched*l and a blazing fire and gloomy darkness and storm 19 and a trumpet blast and a voice speaking words such that those who heard begged that no message be further addressed to them,m 20 for they could not bear to hear the command: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.”n 21 Indeed, so fearful was the spectacle that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.”o 22 No, you have approached Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and countless angels in festal gathering,p 23 and the assembly of the firstborn enrolled in heaven,* and God the judge of all, and the spirits of the just made perfect,q 24 and Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and the sprinkled blood that speaks more eloquently* than that of Abel.r |
Evangile English | 17 * “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.m 19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.* 20 I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
