Lecture Arabic	1 إِنْ كَانَ لا بُدَّ مِنَ الافْتِخَار، مَعَ أَنَّهُ لا نَفْعَ فِيه، سَأَنْتَقِلُ إِلى رُؤَى الرَّبِّ وإِيْحَاءَاتِهِ. 2 أَعْرِفُ إِنْسَانًا في الـمَسِيح، قَدْ خُطِفَ إِلى السَّمَاءِ الثَّالِثَة، قَبْلَ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَة: أَفي الـجَسَد؟ لَسْتُ أَعْلَم! أَمْ في خَارِجِ الـجَسَد؟ لَسْتُ أَعْلَم! أَللهُ يَعْلَم! 3 وأَعْرِفُ أَنَّ هـذَا الإِنْسَان - أَفي الـجَسَد، أَمْ بِدُونِ الـجَسَد؟ لَسْتُ أَعْلَم! أَللهُ يَعْلَم - 4 قَدْ خُطِفَ إِلى الفِردَوس، وسَمِعَ أَقْوالاً تَعْلُو الوَصْف، ولا يَجُوزُ لإِنْسَانٍ أَنْ يَنْطِقَ بِهَا. 5 إِنِّي بِهـذَا الإِنْسَانِ أَفْتَخِر، أَمَّا بِنَفْسِي فلا أَفْتَخِر، بَلْ بِأَوْهَاني. 6 فلَوْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَفْتَخِر، لا أَكُونُ جَاهِلاً، لأَنِّي أَقُولُ الـحقّ! إِلاَّ أَنِّي أَمْتَنِعُ عَنْ ذـلِكَ، لِئَلاَّ يَظُنَّ أَحَدٌ أَنِّي فَوقَ مَا يَرَاهُ فِيَّ أَوْ يَسْمَعُهُ مِنِّي. 7 ولِئَلاَّ أَتَشَامَخَ لِسُمُوِّ الإِيْحَاءَات، أُعْطِيتُ شَوْكَةً في جَسَدِي، مَلاكًا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ يَلْطِمُنِي، لِئَلاَّ أَتَشَامَخ! 8 لِذـلِكَ تَضَرَّعْتُ إِلى الرَّبِّ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ أَنْ يُبْعِدَهُ عَنِّي. 9 فقالَ لي: "تَكْفِيكَ نِعْمَتِي! لأَنَّ قُدْرَتي تَكْتَمِلُ في الضُّعْف!". إِذًا فَأَنا أَرْضَى بِأَنْ أَفْتَخِرَ مَسْرُورًا بِأَوهَاني، لِتَحِلَّ عَلَيَّ قُوَّةُ الـمَسِيح. 10 لِذـلِكَ أَنَا أَرْضَى بِالأَوْهَان، والإِهَانَات، والضِّيقَات، والاضْطِهَادَات، والشَّدائِدِ مِنْ أَجْلِ الـمَسِيح؛ لأَنِّي عِنْدَمَا أَكُونُ ضَعِيفًا ، فَحِينَئِذٍ أَكُونُ قَوِيًّا.
Evangile Arabic	1 في ذـلِكَ الوَقْتِ سَمِعَ هِيْرُودُسُ رَئِيْسُ الرُّبْعِ بِخَبَرِ يَسُوع، 2 فَقَالَ لِغِلْمَانِهِ: "هـذَا هُوَ يُوحَنَّا الـمَعْمَدَان! لَقَدْ قَامَ مِنْ بَيْنِ الأَمْوَات، ولِذـلِكَ تَجْري عَلى يَدِهِ الأَعْمَالُ القَدِيْرَة!". 3 فَإِنَّ هِيْرُودُسَ كَانَ قَدْ قَبَضَ على يُوحَنَّا، وأَوْثَقَهُ وطَرَحَهُ في السِّجْنِ مِنْ أَجْلِ هِيْرُودِيَّا، امْرَأَةِ أَخِيْهِ فِيْلِبُّس، 4 لأَنَّ يُوحَنَّا كَانَ يَقُولُ لَهُ: "لا يَحِلُّ لَكَ أَنْ تَتَزَوَّجَها!". 5 وأَرَادَ أَنْ يَقْتُلَهُ، إِنَّمَا خَافَ مِنَ الـجَمْعِ الَّذي كَانَ يَعْتَبِرُهُ نَبِيًّا. 6 وفي ذِكْرَى مَوْلِدِ هِيْرُودُس، رَقَصَتِ ابْنَةُ هِيْرُودِيَّا في وَسَطِ الـحَفْل، وأَعْجَبَتْ هِيْرُودُس، 7 فَأَقْسَمَ لَهَا أَنْ يُعْطِيَهَا مَهْمَا تَسْأَل. 8 وحَرَّضَتْهَا أُمُّها، فَقَالَتْ: "أَعْطِني هُنَا، عَلى طَبَق، رَأْسَ يُوحَنَّا الـمَعْمَدَان!". 9 فَاغْتَمَّ الـمَلِك. ولـكِنْ مِنْ أَجْلِ القَسَمِ والـمُتَّكِئِيْنَ أَمَرَ بِأَنْ يُعْطى لَهَا. 10 فَأَرْسَلَ وقَطَعَ رَأْسَ يُوحَنَّا في السِّجْن. 11 وحُمِلَ الرَّأْسُ على طَبَق، وأُعْطِيَ لِلصَّبِيَّة، والصَّبِيَّةُ حَمَلَتْهُ إِلى أُمِّهَا. 12 وجَاءَ تَلامِيْذُ يُوحَنَّا، فَرَفَعُوا جُثْمَانَهُ، ودَفَنُوه. ثُمَّ ذَهَبُوا فَأَخْبَرُوا يَسُوع.

Lecture French	01 Faut-il se vanter ? Ce n’est pas utile. J’en viendrai pourtant aux visions et aux révélations reçues du Seigneur. 02 Je sais qu’un fidèle du Christ, voici quatorze ans, a été emporté jusqu’au troisième ciel – est-ce dans son corps ? je ne sais pas ; est-ce hors de son corps ? je ne sais pas ; Dieu le sait – ; 03 mais je sais que cet homme dans cet état-là – est-ce dans son corps, est-ce sans son corps ? je ne sais pas, Dieu le sait – 04 cet homme-là a été emporté au paradis et il a entendu des paroles ineffables, qu’un homme ne doit pas redire. 05 D’un tel homme, je peux me vanter, mais pour moi-même, je ne me vanterai que de mes faiblesses. 06 En fait, si je voulais me vanter, ce ne serait pas folie, car je ne dirais que la vérité. Mais j’évite de le faire, pour qu’on n’ait pas de moi une idée plus favorable qu’en me voyant ou en m’écoutant. 07 Et ces révélations dont il s’agit sont tellement extraordinaires que, pour m’empêcher de me surestimer, j’ai reçu dans ma chair une écharde, un envoyé de Satan qui est là pour me gifler, pour empêcher que je me surestime. 08 Par trois fois, j’ai prié le Seigneur de l’écarter de moi. 09 Mais il m’a déclaré : « Ma grâce te suffit, car ma puissance donne toute sa mesure dans la faiblesse. » C’est donc très volontiers que je mettrai plutôt ma fierté dans mes faiblesses, afin que la puissance du Christ fasse en moi sa demeure. 10 C’est pourquoi j’accepte de grand cœur pour le Christ les faiblesses, les insultes, les contraintes, les persécutions et les situations angoissantes. Car, lorsque je suis faible, c’est alors que je suis fort.
Evangile French	01 En ce temps-là, Hérode, qui était au pouvoir en Galilée, apprit la renommée de Jésus 02 et dit à ses serviteurs : « Celui-là, c’est Jean le Baptiste, il est ressuscité d’entre les morts, et voilà pourquoi des miracles se réalisent par lui. » 03 Car Hérode avait fait arrêter Jean, l’avait fait enchaîner et mettre en prison. C’était à cause d’Hérodiade, la femme de son frère Philippe. 04 En effet, Jean lui avait dit : « Tu n’as pas le droit de l’avoir pour femme. » 05 Hérode cherchait à le faire mourir, mais il eut peur de la foule qui le tenait pour un prophète. 06 Lorsque arriva l’anniversaire d’Hérode, la fille d’Hérodiade dansa au milieu des convives, et elle plut à Hérode. 07 Alors il s’engagea par serment à lui donner ce qu’elle demanderait. 08 Poussée par sa mère, elle dit : « Donne-moi ici, sur un plat, la tête de Jean le Baptiste. » 09 Le roi fut contrarié ; mais à cause de son serment et des convives, il commanda de la lui donner. 10 Il envoya décapiter Jean dans la prison. 11 La tête de celui-ci fut apportée sur un plat et donnée à la jeune fille, qui l’apporta à sa mère. 12 Les disciples de Jean arrivèrent pour prendre son corps, qu’ils ensevelirent ; puis ils allèrent l’annoncer à Jésus.

Lecture English	1 I* must boast; not that it is profitable, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows), was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know that this person (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows) 4 was caught up into Paradise and heard ineffable things, which no one may utter.a 5 About this person* I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses. 6 Although if I should wish to boast, I would not be foolish, for I would be telling the truth. But I refrain, so that no one may think more of me than what he sees in me or hears from me 7 because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore, that I might not become too elated,* a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated.b 8 Three times* I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me,c 9 * but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses,* in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.d 10 Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ;e for when I am weak, then I am strong.*
Evangile English	1 * a At that time Herod the tetrarch* b heard of the reputation of Jesusc 2 and said to his servants, “This man is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why mighty powers are at work in him.” The Death of John the Baptist. 3 d Now Herod had arrested John, bound [him], and put him in prison on account of Herodias,* the wife of his brother Philip, 4 e for John had said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” 5 f Although he wanted to kill him, he feared the people, for they regarded him as a prophet. 6 But at a birthday celebration for Herod, the daughter of Herodias performed a dance before the guests and delighted Herod 7 so much that he swore to give her whatever she might ask for. 8 Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” 9 The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests who were present, he ordered that it be given, 10 and he had John beheaded in the prison. 11 His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who took it to her mother. 12 His disciples came and took away the corpse and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.
