Lecture Arabic	13 فَالْوَعْدُ لإِبْرَاهيمَ أَوْ لِنَسْلِهِ بِأَنْ يَكُونَ وَارِثًا لِلعَالَم، لَمْ يَكُنْ بِواسِطَةِ الشَّرِيعَة، بَلْ بالبِرِّ الَّذي نَالَهُ بالإِيْمَان. 14 فلَوْ كَانَ أَهْلُ الشَّرِيعَةِ هُمُ الوَارِثِين، لأُ[بْطِلَ الإِيْمَان، وأُلْغِيَ الوَعْد؛ 15 لأَنَّ الشَّرِيعَةَ تُسَبِّبُ غَضَبَ الله؛ وحَيْثُ لا شَرِيعَة، فَلا تَعَدِّيَ لِلشَّرِيعَة. 16 لِذـلِكَ فَأَهْلُ الإِيْمَانِ هُمُ الوَارِثُون، لِكَي تَكُونَ الوِرَاثَةُ هِبَةً مِنَ الله. وهـكَذَا تَحَقَّقَ الوَعْدُ لِكُلِّ نَسْلِ إِبْرَاهيم، لا لِلنَّسْلِ الَّذي هُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّرِيعَةِ فَحَسْب، بَلْ أَيْضًا لِلنَّسْلِ الَّذي هُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الإِيْمَان، إِيْمَانِ إِبْرَاهِيم، الَّذي هُوَ أَبٌ لَنَا أَجْمَعِين؛ 17 كَمَا هُوَ مَكْتُوب: "إِنِّي جَعَلْتُكَ أَبًا لأُمَمٍ كَثِيرَة". فَإِبْرَاهِيمُ الَّذي آمَنَ باللهِ هُوَ أَبٌ لَنَا أَمَامَ الله، الَّذي يُحْيي الأَمْوَات، ويَدْعُو غَيْرَ الـمَوْجُودِ إِلى الوُجُود. 18 وقَدْ آمَنَ إِبْرَاهيمُ رَاجِيًا عَلى غَيرِ رَجَاء، بِأَنَّهُ سَيَصيرُ أَبًا لأُمَمٍ كَثيرَة، كَمَا قِيلَ لَهُ: "هـكَذَا يَكُونُ نَسْلُكَ". 19 ولَمْ يَضْعُفْ بِإِيْمَانِهِ، بِرَغْمِ أَنَّهُ رأَى، وهُوَ ابنُ نَحْوِ مِئَةِ سَنَة، أَنَّ جَسَدَهُ مَائِت، وأَنَّ حَشَا سَارَةَ قَدْ مَات. 20 وبِنَاءً عَلى وَعْدِ الله، مَا شَكَّ وَلا تَرَدَّد، بَلْ تَقَوَّى بالإِيْمَان، ومَجَّدَ الله. 21 وأَيْقَنَ مِلْءَ اليَقِينِ أَنَّ اللهَ قَادِرٌ أَنْ يُنْجِزَ مَا وَعَدَ بِهِ. 22 فَلِذـلِكَ حُسِبَ لَهُ إِيْمَانُهُ بِرًّا. 23 ولَمْ يُكْتَبْ مِنْ أَجْلِهِ وَحْدَهُ أَنَّهُ "حُسِبَ لَهُ بِرًّا"، 24 بَلْ كُتِبَ أَيْضًا مِنْ أَجْلِنَا، نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ سَيُحْسَبُ لَنَا بِرًّا، لأَنَّنَا نُؤْمِنُ بِالَّذي أَقَامَ مِنْ بَيْنِ الأَمْوَاتِ يَسُوعَ رَبَّنَا، 25 الَّذي أُسْلِمَ مِنْ أَجْلِ زَلاَّتِنَا، وأُقيمَ مِنْ أَجْلِ تَبْريرِنَا.
Evangile Arabic	1 بِمَا أَنَّ كثيرينَ أَخَذُوا يُرَتِّبونَ رِوَايةً لِلأَحْدَاثِ الَّتي تَمَّتْ عِنْدَنا، 2 كَمَا سَلَّمَها إِلَيْنَا مَنْ كَانُوا مُنْذُ البَدْءِ شُهُودَ عِيَانٍ لِلْكَلِمَة، ثُمَّ صَارُوا خُدَّامًا لَهَا، 3 رَأَيْتُ أَنا أَيْضًا، أَيُّهَا الشَّرِيفُ تِيُوفِيل، أَنْ أَكْتُبَها لَكَ بِحَسَبِ تَرْتِيِبهَا، بَعْدَما تَتَبَّعْتُهَا كُلَّها، مُنْذُ بِدَايَتِهَا، تَتَبُّعًا دَقيقًا، 4 لِكَي تَتَيَقَّنَ صِحَّةَ الكَلامِ الَّذي وُعِظْتَ بِهِ. 5 كَانَ في أَيَّامِ هِيرُودُس، مَلِكِ اليَهُودِيَّة، كَاهِنٌ اسْمُهُ زَكَرِيَّا، مِنْ فِرْقَةِ أَبِيَّا، لهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنَاتِ هَارُونَ اسْمُها إِليصَابَات. 6 وكَانَا كِلاهُمَا بَارَّيْنِ أَمَامَ الله، سَالِكَيْنِ في جَمِيعِ وصَايَا الرَّبِّ وأَحْكَامِه بِلا لَوْم. 7 ومَا كَانَ لَهُمَا وَلَد، لأَنَّ إِليصَابَاتَ كَانَتْ عَاقِرًا، وكَانَا كِلاهُمَا قَدْ طَعَنَا في أَيَّامِهِمَا. 8 وفِيمَا كَانَ زَكَرِيَّا يَقُومُ بِالـخِدْمَةِ الكَهَنُوتِيَّةِ أَمَامَ الله، في أَثْنَاءِ نَوْبَةِ فِرْقَتِهِ، 9 أَصَابَتْهُ القُرْعَة، بِحَسَبِ عَادَةِ الكَهَنُوت، لِيَدْخُلَ مَقْدِسَ هَيْكَلِ الرَّبِّ ويُحْرِقَ البَخُور. 10 وكَانَ كُلُّ جُمْهُورِ الشَّعْبِ يُصَلِّي في الـخَارِج، في أَثْنَاءِ إِحْرَاقِ البَخُور. 11 وَتَراءَى مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ لِزَكَرِيَّا وَاقِفًا مِنْ عَنْ يَمِينِ مَذْبَحِ البَخُور، 12 فَاضْطَرَبَ زَكَرِيَّا حِينَ رَآه، واسْتَولَى عَلَيْهِ الـخَوف. 13 فقَالَ لهُ الـمَلاك: "لا تَخَفْ، يَا زَكَرِيَّا، فَقَدِ اسْتُجيبَتْ طِلْبَتُكَ، وَامْرَأَتُكَ إِلِيصَابَاتُ سَتَلِدُ لَكَ ابْنًا، فَسَمِّهِ يُوحَنَّا. 14 ويَكُونُ لَكَ فَرَحٌ وَابْتِهَاج، ويَفْرَحُ بِمَوْلِدِهِ كَثِيرُون، 15 لأَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عَظِيمًا في نَظَرِ الرَّبّ، لا يَشْرَبُ خَمْرًا ولا مُسْكِرًا، وَيَمْتَلِئُ مِنَ الرُّوحِ القُدُسِ وَهُوَ بَعْدُ في حَشَا أُمِّهِ. 16 ويَرُدُّ كَثِيرينَ مِنْ بَني إِسْرَائِيلَ إِلى الرَّبِّ إِلـهِهِم. 17 ويَسيرُ أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ بِرُوحِ إِيلِيَّا وقُوَّتِهِ، لِيَرُدَّ قُلُوبَ الآبَاءِ إِلى الأَبْنَاء، والعُصَاةَ إِلى حِكْمَةِ الأَبْرَار، فيُهيِّئَ لِلرَّبِّ شَعْبًا مُعَدًّا خَيْرَ إِعْدَاد". 18 فقَالَ زَكَرِيَّا لِلْمَلاك: "بِمَاذَا أَعْرِفُ هـذَا؟ فإِنِّي أَنَا شَيْخٌ ، وامْرَأَتي قَدْ طَعَنَتْ في أَيَّامِهَا!". 19 فأَجَابَ الـمَلاكُ وقالَ لهُ: "أَنَا هُوَ جِبْرَائِيلُ الوَاقِفُ في حَضْرَةِ الله، وقَدْ أُرْسِلْتُ لأُكَلِّمَكَ وأُبَشِّرَكَ بِهـذَا. 20 وهَا أَنْتَ تَكُونُ صَامِتًا، لا تَقْدِرُ أَنْ تَتَكَلَّم، حَتَّى اليَوْمِ الَّذي يَحْدُثُ فِيهِ ذـلِكَ، لأَنَّكَ لَمْ تُؤْمِنْ بِكَلامِي الَّذي سَيَتِمُّ في أَوَانِهِ". 21 وكَانَ الشَّعْبُ يَنْتَظرُ زَكَرِيَّا، ويَتَعَجَّبُ مِنْ إِبْطَائِهِ في مَقْدِسِ الـهَيْكَل. 22 ولَمَّا خَرَجَ زَكَريَّا، لَمْ يَكُنْ قَادِرًا أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُم، فأَدْرَكُوا أَنَّهُ رَأَى رُؤْيَا في الـمَقْدِس، وكَانَ يُشيرُ إِلَيْهِم بِالإِشَارَة، وبَقِيَ أَبْكَم. 23 ولَمَّا تَمَّتْ أَيَّامُ خِدْمَتِهِ، مَضَى إِلى بَيْتِهِ. 24 وبَعْدَ تِلْكَ الأَيَّام، حَمَلَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ إِلِيصَابَات، وكَتمَتْ أَمْرَهَا خَمْسَةَ أَشْهُر، وهِيَ تَقُول: 25 "هـكَذا صَنعَ الرَّبُّ إِليَّ، في الأَيَّامِ الَّتي نَظَرَ إِليَّ فِيهَا، لِيُزيلَ العَارَ عَنِّي مِنْ بَيْنِ النَّاس!".

Lecture French	13 Car ce n’est pas en vertu de la Loi que la promesse de recevoir le monde en héritage a été faite à Abraham et à sa descendance, mais en vertu de la justice obtenue par la foi. 14 En effet, si l’on devient héritier par la Loi, alors la foi est sans contenu, et la promesse, abolie. 15 Car la Loi aboutit à la colère de Dieu, mais là où il n’y a pas de Loi, il n’y a pas non plus de transgression. 16 Voilà pourquoi on devient héritier par la foi : c’est une grâce, et la promesse demeure ferme pour tous les descendants d’Abraham, non pour ceux qui se rattachent à la Loi seulement, mais pour ceux qui se rattachent aussi à la foi d’Abraham, lui qui est notre père à tous. 17 C’est bien ce qui est écrit : J’ai fait de toi le père d’un grand nombre de nations. Il est notre père devant Dieu en qui il a cru, Dieu qui donne la vie aux morts et qui appelle à l’existence ce qui n’existe pas. 18 Espérant contre toute espérance, il a cru ; ainsi est-il devenu le père d’un grand nombre de nations, selon cette parole : Telle sera la descendance que tu auras ! 19 Il n’a pas faibli dans la foi quand, presque centenaire, il considéra que son corps était déjà marqué par la mort et que Sara ne pouvait plus enfanter. 20 Devant la promesse de Dieu, il n’hésita pas, il ne manqua pas de foi, mais il trouva sa force dans la foi et rendit gloire à Dieu, 21 car il était pleinement convaincu que Dieu a la puissance d’accomplir ce qu’il a promis. 22 Et voilà pourquoi il lui fut accordé d’être juste. 23 En disant que cela lui fut accordé, l’Écriture ne s’intéresse pas seulement à lui, 24 mais aussi à nous, car cela nous sera accordé puisque nous croyons en Celui qui a ressuscité d’entre les morts Jésus notre Seigneur, 25 livré pour nos fautes et ressuscité pour notre justification.
Evangile French	01 BEAUCOUP ONT ENTREPRIS de composer un récit des événements qui se sont accomplis parmi nous, 02 d’après ce que nous ont transmis ceux qui, dès le commencement, furent témoins oculaires et serviteurs de la Parole. 03 C’est pourquoi j’ai décidé, moi aussi, après avoir recueilli avec précision des informations concernant tout ce qui s’est passé depuis le début, d’écrire pour toi, excellent Théophile, un exposé suivi, 04 afin que tu te rendes bien compte de la solidité des enseignements que tu as entendus. 05 Il y avait, au temps d’Hérode le Grand, roi de Judée, un prêtre du groupe d’Abia, nommé Zacharie. Sa femme aussi était descendante d’Aaron ; elle s’appelait Élisabeth. 06 Ils étaient l’un et l’autre des justes devant Dieu : ils suivaient tous les commandements et les préceptes du Seigneur de façon irréprochable. 07 Ils n’avaient pas d’enfant, car Élisabeth était stérile et, de plus, ils étaient l’un et l’autre avancés en âge. 08 Or, tandis que Zacharie, durant la période attribuée aux prêtres de son groupe, assurait le service du culte devant Dieu, 09 il fut désigné par le sort, suivant l’usage des prêtres, pour aller offrir l’encens dans le sanctuaire du Seigneur. 10 Toute la multitude du peuple était en prière au dehors, à l’heure de l’offrande de l’encens. 11 L’ange du Seigneur lui apparut, debout à droite de l’autel de l’encens. 12 À sa vue, Zacharie fut bouleversé et la crainte le saisit. 13 L’ange lui dit : « Sois sans crainte, Zacharie, car ta supplication a été exaucée : ta femme Élisabeth mettra au monde pour toi un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jean. 14 Tu seras dans la joie et l’allégresse, et beaucoup se réjouiront de sa naissance, 15 car il sera grand devant le Seigneur. Il ne boira pas de vin ni de boisson forte, et il sera rempli d’Esprit Saint dès le ventre de sa mère ; 16 il fera revenir de nombreux fils d’Israël au Seigneur leur Dieu ; 17 il marchera devant, en présence du Seigneur, avec l’esprit et la puissance du prophète Élie, pour faire revenir le cœur des pères vers leurs enfants, ramener les rebelles à la sagesse des justes, et préparer au Seigneur un peuple bien disposé. » 18 Alors Zacharie dit à l’ange : « Comment vais-je savoir que cela arrivera ? Moi, en effet, je suis un vieillard et ma femme est avancée en âge. » 19 L’ange lui répondit : « Je suis Gabriel et je me tiens en présence de Dieu. J’ai été envoyé pour te parler et pour t’annoncer cette bonne nouvelle. 20 Mais voici que tu seras réduit au silence et, jusqu’au jour où cela se réalisera, tu ne pourras plus parler, parce que tu n’as pas cru à mes paroles ; celles-ci s’accompliront en leur temps. » 21 Le peuple attendait Zacharie et s’étonnait qu’il s’attarde dans le sanctuaire. 22 Quand il sortit, il ne pouvait pas leur parler, et ils comprirent que, dans le sanctuaire, il avait eu une vision. Il leur faisait des signes et restait muet. 23 Lorsqu’il eut achevé son temps de service liturgique, il repartit chez lui. 24 Quelque temps plus tard, sa femme Élisabeth conçut un enfant. Pendant cinq mois, elle garda le secret. Elle se disait : 25 « Voilà ce que le Seigneur a fait pour moi, en ces jours où il a posé son regard pour effacer ce qui était ma honte devant les hommes. »

Lecture English	13 It was not through the law that the promise was made to Abraham and his descendants that he would inherit the world, but through the righteousness that comes from faith.g 14 For if those who adhere to the law are the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.h 15 For the law produces wrath;i but where there is no law, neither is there violation.* 16 For this reason, it depends on faith, so that it may be a gift, and the promise may be guaranteed to all his descendants, not to those who only adhere to the law but to those who follow the faith of Abraham, who is the father of all of us,j 17 as it is written, “I have made you father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not exist.k 18 He believed, hoping against hope,l that he would become “the father of many nations,” according to what was said, “Thus shall your descendants be.” 19 m He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body as [already] dead (for he was almost a hundred years old) and the dead womb of Sarah. 20 He did not doubt God’s promise in unbelief;* rather, he was empowered by faith and gave glory to God 21 and was fully convinced that what he had promised he was also able to do.n 22 That is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”o 23 But it was not for him alone that it was written that “it was credited to him”; 24 it was also for us, to whom it will be credited, who believe in the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,p 25 who was handed over for our transgressions and was raised for our justification.q
Evangile English	1 Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us,a 2 just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and ministers of the word have handed them down to us,b 3 I too have decided, after investigating everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received. Announcement of the Birth of John. 5 In the days of Herod, King of Judea,* there was a priest named Zechariah of the priestly division of Abijah; his wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.c 6 Both were righteous in the eyes of God, observing all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly. 7 But they had no child,* because Elizabeth was barren and both were advanced in years.d 8 Once when he was serving as priest in his division’s turn before God, 9 according to the practice of the priestly service, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord to burn incense.e 10 Then, when the whole assembly of the people was praying outside at the hour of the incense offering, 11 the angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right of the altar of incense. 12 Zechariah was troubled by what he saw, and fear came upon him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid,* Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John.f 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of [the] Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink.* He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb,g 16 and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah* to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.”h 18 Then Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel said to him in reply, “I am Gabriel,* who stand before God. I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.i 20 But now you will be speechless and unable to talk* until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”j 21 Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah and were amazed that he stayed so long in the sanctuary. 22 But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. He was gesturing to them but remained mute. 23 Then, when his days of ministry were completed, he went home. 24 After this time his wife Elizabeth conceived, and she went into seclusion for five months, saying, 25 “So has the Lord done for me at a time when he has seen fit to take away my disgrace before others.”k
