Lecture Arabic	19 ولَعَلَّكَ تَقُولُ لي: لِمَاذَا يَلُومُنَا اللهُ بَعْد؟ ومَنْ يُقَاوِمُ مَشيئَتَهُ؟ 20 فأَقُولُ لكَ: مَنْ أَنْتَ، أَيُّهَا الإِنْسَان، حتَّى تَعْتَرِضَ عَلى الله؟ هَلْ تَقُولُ الـجَبْلَةُ لِجَابِلِهَا: لِمَاذَا صَنَعْتَنِي هـكَذَا؟ 21 أَلَيْسَ لِلخَزَّافِ سُلطَانٌ عَلى الطِّين، فَيَصْنَعَ مِنْ جَبْلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ إِنَاءً لِلكَرَامَة، وآخَرَ لِلهَوَان؟ 22 هـكَذَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ غَضَبَهُ، ويُعْلِنَ قُدْرَتَهُ، فَاحْتَمَلَ بِكَثيرٍ مِنَ الصَّبْرِ آنِيَةَ غَضَبٍ صَائِرَةً إِلى الـهَلاك؛ 23 وشَاءَ اللهُ أَيْضًا أَنْ يُعْلِنَ غِنَى مَجْدِهِ، فَأَفَاضَهُ عَلى آنِيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ سَبَقَ فأَعَدَّهَا لِلمَجْد، 24 أَيْ عَلَيْنَا نَحْنُ الَّذينَ دَعَانَا، لا مِنَ اليَهُودِ فَحَسْب، بَلْ مِنَ الأُمَمِ أَيْضًا! 25 كَمَا يَقُولُ أَيْضًا في هُوشَع: "مَنْ لَيْسَ شَعْبِي سَأَدْعُوهُ شَعْبِي، ومَنْ لَيْسَتْ مَحْبُوبَةً سَأَدْعُوهَا مَحْبُوبَة. 26 وَسَيَكُونُ في الـمَوضِعِ الَّذي قيلَ لَهُم فِيه: لَسْتُم شَعْبِي! هُنَاكَ يُدْعَونَ أَبْنَاءَ اللهِ الـحيّ". 27 ويَهْتِفُ آشَعيَا في شَأْنِ إِسْرَائِيل: "ولَو كَانَ عَدَدُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَرَمْلِ البَحر، فَالبَقِيَّةُ مِنْهُم سَتَخْلُص! 28 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ سَيُتِمُّ كَلِمَتَهُ في الأَرْضِ إِتْمَامًا كَامِلاً وَسَريعًا". 29 وكَمَا سَبَقَ آشَعْيَا فقَال: "لَو لَمْ يُبْقِ لَنَا الرَّبُّ القَدِيرُ نَسْلاً، لَصِرْنَا مِثْلَ سَدُوم، وأَشْبَهْنَا عَمُورَة!".
Evangile Arabic	23 وجَاءَ يَسُوعُ إِلى الـهَيْكَل، وبَينَمَا هُوَ يُعَلِّم، دَنَا مِنهُ الأَحْبَارُ وشُيُوخُ الشَّعْبِ وقَالُوا لَهُ: "بِأَيِّ سُلْطَانٍ تَفْعَلُ هـذَا ؟ ومَنْ أَعْطَاكَ هـذَا السُّلْطَان؟". 24 فَأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وقَالَ لَهُم: "وأَنَا أَيْضًا أَسْأَلُكُم سُؤَالاً وَاحِدًا، فَإِنْ أَجَبْتُمُونِي قُلْتُ لَكُم أَنا أَيْضًا بِأَيِّ سُلْطَانٍ أَفْعَلُ هـذَا. 25 مَعْمُودِيَّةُ يُوحَنَّا مِنْ أَيْنَ كَانَتْ؟ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَمْ مِنَ النَّاس؟". فَأَخَذُوا يُفَكِّرُونَ في أَنْفُسِهِم قَائِلين: "إِنْ قُلْنَا: مِنَ السَّمَاء، يَقُولُ لَنَا:فَلِمُاذَا لَم تُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ؟ 26 وإِنْ قُلْنَا: مِنَ النَّاس، نَخَافُ مِنَ الـجَمْع، لأَنَّهُم كُلَّهُم يَعْتَبِرُونَ يُوحَنَّا نَبِيًّا". 27 فَأَجَابُوا وقَالُوا لِيَسُوع: "لا نَعْلَم!". قَالَ لَهُم هُوَ أَيْضًا: "ولا أَنَا أَقُولُ لَكُم بِأَيِّ سُلْطَانٍ أَفْعَلُ هـذَا.

Lecture French	19 Alors tu vas me dire : « Pourquoi Dieu adresse-t-il encore des reproches ? Qui, en effet, a pu s’opposer à sa volonté ? » 20 Mais toi, homme, qui es-tu donc, pour entrer en contestation avec Dieu ? L’œuvre dira-t-elle à l’ouvrier : « Pourquoi m’as-tu faite ainsi ? » 21 Le potier n’est-il pas maître de son argile, pour faire avec la même pâte un objet pour un usage honorable et un autre pour un usage méprisable ? 22 Et si Dieu, voulant manifester sa colère et faire connaître sa puissance, a supporté avec beaucoup de patience des objets de colère voués à la perte, 23 s’il l’a fait, n’est-ce pas aussi pour faire connaître la richesse de sa gloire en faveur des objets de miséricorde que, d’avance, il a préparés pour la gloire ? 24 Ces objets de miséricorde, c’est nous, qu’il a appelés non seulement d’entre les Juifs, mais aussi d’entre les nations, 25 comme précisément il le dit dans le livre du prophète d’Osée : Celui qu’on appelait « Pas-mon-peuple », je l’appellerai « Mon-peuple », celle qu’on appelait « Pas-aimée », je l’appellerai « Aimée ». 26 Et, là même où Dieu leur avait dit : « Vous n’êtes pas mon peuple », là ils seront appelés « fils du Dieu vivant ». 27 Quant à Isaïe, il s’exclame au sujet d’Israël : Même si le nombre des fils d’Israël est comme le sable de la mer, seul le reste d’Israël sera sauvé, 28 car le Seigneur réalisera sa parole jusqu’au bout et promptement sur la terre ! 29 Et comme Isaïe l’a dit par avance : Si le Seigneur de l’univers ne nous avait pas laissé une descendance, nous serions devenus comme Sodome, nous serions semblables à Gomorrhe.
Evangile French	23 Jésus était entré dans le Temple, et, pendant qu’il enseignait, les grands prêtres et les anciens du peuple s’approchèrent de lui et demandèrent : « Par quelle autorité fais-tu cela, et qui t’a donné cette autorité ? » 24 Jésus leur répliqua : « À mon tour, je vais vous poser une question, une seule ; et si vous me répondez, je vous dirai, moi aussi, par quelle autorité je fais cela : 25 Le baptême de Jean, d’où venait-il ? du ciel ou des hommes ? » Ils faisaient en eux-mêmes ce raisonnement : « Si nous disons : “Du ciel”, il va nous dire : “Pourquoi donc n’avez-vous pas cru à sa parole ?” 26 Si nous disons : “Des hommes”, nous devons redouter la foule, car tous tiennent Jean pour un prophète. » 27 Ils répondirent donc à Jésus : « Nous ne savons pas ! » Il leur dit à son tour : « Moi, je ne vous dis pas non plus par quelle autorité je fais cela.

For who can oppose his will?”q 20 But who indeed are you, a human being, to talk back to God?r Will what is made say to its maker, “Why have you created me so?” 21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for a noble purpose and another for an ignoble one? 22 What if God, wishing to show his wrath and make known his power, has endured with much patience the vessels of wrath made for destruction?s 23 This was to make known the riches of his glory to the vessels of mercy, which he has prepared previously for glory, 24 namely, us whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles. Witness of the Prophets. 25 As indeed he says in Hosea: “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved* I will call ‘beloved.’t 26 And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they shall be called children of the living God.”u 27 v And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of the Israelites were like the sand of the sea, only a remnant will be saved; 28 for decisively and quickly will the Lord execute sentence upon the earth.” 29 And as Isaiah predicted: “Unless the Lord of hosts had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom and have been made like Gomorrah.”w
Evangile English	23 n When he had come into the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people approached him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority are you doing these things?* And who gave you this authority?”o 24 Jesus said to them in reply, “I shall ask you one question,* and if you answer it for me, then I shall tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 Where was John’s baptism from? Was it of heavenly or of human origin?” They discussed this among themselves and said, “If we say ‘Of heavenly origin,’ he will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ 26 * p But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ we fear the crowd, for they all regard John as a prophet.” 27 So they said to Jesus in reply, “We do not know.” He himself said to them, “Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.*
