Lecture Arabic	14 ذَكِّرْهُم بِذـلِك ونَاشِدْهُم في حَضْرَةِ الله أَنْ يَتَجَنَّبُوا الـمُمَاحَكاتِ الَّتي لا نَفْعَ مِنْهَا، والـَّتي تَهْدِمُ السَّامِعِين. 15 إِجْتَهِدْ أَنْ تُقَرِّبَ نَفْسَكَ إِنْسَانًا مَقْبُولاً لله، وعامِلاً لا يَسْتَحْيِي بِعَمَلِهِ، مُفَصِّلاً كَلِمَةَ الـحَقِّ بِاسْتِقَامَة. 16 أَمَّا الكَلامُ الفارِغُ التَّافِهُ فَاجْتَنِبْهُ، لأَنَّهُ يَزِيدُ أَصْحَابَهُ كُفْرًا، 17 وكَلامُهُم يَتَفَشَّى كالآكِلَة، ومِنهُم هُومَنَايُوس وفِيلاتُوس، 18 اللَّذَانِ زَاغَا عَنِ الـحَقّ، زِاعِمَينِ أَنَّ القِيَامَةَ قَدْ تَمَّتْ، وهُمَا يَقْلِبَانِ إِيْمَانَ بَعْضِ النَّاس. 19 إِلاَّ أَنَّ الأَسَاسَ الـمَتِينَ الَّذي وَضَعَهُ اللهُ يَبْقَى ثَابِتًا، وعَلَيهِ هـذا الـخَتْم: "إِنَّ الرَّبَّ يَعْرِفُ الَّذِينَ لَهُ"، "ولْيَتَجَنَّبِ الشَّرَّ كُلُّ مَنْ يَذْكُرُ اسْمَ الرَّبّ". 20 في بَيتٍ كَبير، لا تَكُونُ الآنِيَةُ كُلُّهَا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وفِضَّة، بَلْ أَيْضًا مِنْ خَشَبٍ وخَزَف، بَعْضُهَا لِلكَرَامَةِ وبَعضُهَا لِلهَوَان. 21 فَإِنْ طَهَّرَ أَحَدٌ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ تِلْكَ الشُّرُور، يَكُونُ إِنَاءً لِلكَرَامَةِ مُقَدَّسًا نَافِعًا لِلسَّـيِّد، مُعَدًّا لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ صَالِح. 22 أَمَّا شَهَوَاتُ الشَّبَابِ فَاهْرُبْ مِنهَا، وَاتْبَعِ البِرَّ والإِيْمَانَ والـمَحَبَّةَ والسَّلام، مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ الرَّبَّ بِقَلْبٍ طَاهِر. 23 وَارْفُضِ الـمُجادَلاتِ الغَبِيَّةَ والسَّخِيفَة، فأَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهَا تُوَلِّدُ الـمُشَاجَرَات. 24 ولا يَجُوزُ لِخَادِمِ الرَّبِّ أَنْ يُشَاجِر، بَلْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَطِيفًا معَ الْجَمِيع، قَادِرًا على التَّعْلِيم، صَابِرًا على الـمَشَقَّات، 25 وَدِيعًا في تَأْدِيبِ الـمُخَالِفِين، لَعَلَّ اللهَ يَمْنَحُهُم التَّوبَةَ لِمَعرِفَةِ الـحَقّ، 26 فيَسْتَفِيقُوا مِن فَخِّ إِبْلِيس، وقَدِ اصْطَادَهُم رَهْنًا لِمَشِيئَتِهِ.
Evangile Arabic	20 حِينَئِذٍ دَنَتْ مِنهُ أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ ويُوحَنَّا ابْنَي زَبَدَى، وهُمَا مَعَهَا، وسَجَدَتْ لَهُ تَلْتَمِسُ مِنْهُ حَاجَة. 21 فقَالَ لَهَا: "مَاذَا تُرِيدِين؟". قَالَتْ لَهُ: "مُرْ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ ابْنَايَ هـذَانِ في مَلَكُوتِكَ، واحِدٌ عَنْ يَمِيْنِكَ ووَاحِدٌ عَنْ يَسَارِكَ". 22 فأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وقَال: "إِنَّكُمَا لا تَعْلَمَانِ مَا تَطْلُبَان. هَلْ تَسْتَطِيْعَانِ أَنْ تَشْرَبَا الكَأْسَ الَّتي سَأَشْرَبُها أَنَا؟". قَالا لَهُ: "نَسْتَطِيْع!". 23 فقَالَ لَهُمَا: "نَعَم، سَتَشْرَبَانِ كَأْسِي. أَمَّا الـجُلُوسُ عَنْ يَمِيْنِي وعَنْ يَسَارِي، فَلَيْسَ لي أَنْ أَمْنَحَهُ إِلاَّ لِمَنْ أَعَدَّهُ لَهُم أَبي". 24 ولَمَّا سَمِعَ العَشَرَةُ الآخَرُون، اغْتَاظُوا مِنَ الأَخَوَين. 25 فَدَعَاهُم يَسُوعُ إِلَيْهِ وقَال: "تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رُؤَسَاءَ الأُمَمِ يَسُودُونَهُم، وعُظَمَاءَهُم يَتَسَلَّطُونَ عَلَيْهِم، 26 فلا يَكُنْ بَيْنَكُم هـكَذَا. بَلْ مَنْ أَرادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنَكُم عَظِيْمًا، فَلْيَكُنْ لَكُم خَادِمًا. 27 ومَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ الأَوَّلَ بَيْنَكُم، فَلْيَكُنْ لَكُم عَبْدًا، 28 مِثْلَ ابْنِ الإِنْسَانِ الَّذي لَمْ يَأْتِ لِيُخْدَمَ بَلْ لِيَخْدُم، ويَبْذُلَ نَفْسَهُ فِدَاءً عَنْ كَثِيرِين".

Lecture French	14 Voilà ce que tu dois rappeler, en déclarant solennellement devant Dieu qu’il faut bannir les querelles de mots : elles ne servent à rien, sinon à perturber ceux qui les écoutent. 15 Toi-même, efforce-toi de te présenter devant Dieu comme quelqu’un qui a fait ses preuves, un ouvrier qui n’a pas à rougir de ce qu’il a fait et qui trace tout droit le chemin de la parole de vérité. 16 Quant aux bavardages impies, évite-les ; leurs auteurs progressent sans cesse en impiété 17 et leur parole se propage comme la gangrène. Tels sont Hyménaios et Philètos, 18 qui se sont écartés de la vérité en prétendant que la résurrection est déjà arrivée, et ils bouleversent la foi de quelques-uns. 19 Cependant le fondement solide posé par Dieu tient bon ; il est marqué du sceau de ces paroles : Le Seigneur connaît les siens, et aussi : Qu’il se détourne de l’iniquité, celui qui prononce le nom du Seigneur. 20 Dans une grande maison, il n’y a pas seulement des instruments d’or et d’argent, mais il y en a aussi en bois et en terre cuite, les premiers pour ce qui est honorable, et les autres pour ce qui ne l’est pas. 21 Si donc quelqu’un se purifie des travers dont j’ai parlé, il sera un instrument pour ce qui est honorable, sanctifié, utile au Maître, prêt à faire tout ce qui est bien. 22 Fuis les passions de la jeunesse. Cherche à vivre dans la justice, la foi, la charité et la paix, avec ceux qui invoquent le Seigneur d’un cœur pur. 23 Évite les discussions folles et simplistes : tu sais qu’elles provoquent des querelles. 24 Or un serviteur du Seigneur ne doit pas être querelleur ; il doit être attentionné envers tous, capable d’enseigner et de supporter la malveillance ; 25 il doit reprendre avec douceur les opposants, car Dieu leur donnera peut-être de se convertir, de connaître pleinement la vérité : 26 ils retrouveront alors leur bon sens et se dégageront des pièges du diable qui les retient captifs, soumis à sa volonté.
Evangile French	20 Alors la mère des fils de Zébédée s’approcha de Jésus avec ses fils Jacques et Jean, et elle se prosterna pour lui faire une demande. 21 Jésus lui dit : « Que veux-tu ? » Elle répondit : « Ordonne que mes deux fils que voici siègent, l’un à ta droite et l’autre à ta gauche, dans ton Royaume. » 22 Jésus répondit : « Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je vais boire ? » Ils lui disent : « Nous le pouvons. » 23 Il leur dit : « Ma coupe, vous la boirez ; quant à siéger à ma droite et à ma gauche, ce n’est pas à moi de l’accorder ; il y a ceux pour qui cela est préparé par mon Père. » 24 Les dix autres, qui avaient entendu, s’indignèrent contre les deux frères. 25 Jésus les appela et dit : « Vous le savez : les chefs des nations les commandent en maîtres, et les grands font sentir leur pouvoir. 26 Parmi vous, il ne devra pas en être ainsi : celui qui veut devenir grand parmi vous sera votre serviteur ; 27 et celui qui veut être parmi vous le premier sera votre esclave. 28 Ainsi, le Fils de l’homme n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et donner sa vie en rançon pour la multitude. »

Lecture English	14 * Remind people of these things and charge them before God* to stop disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen.l 15 Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God, a workman who causes no disgrace, imparting the word of truth without deviation.m 16 Avoid profane, idle talk, for such people will become more and more godless,n 17 and their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,o 18 who have deviated from the truth by saying that [the] resurrection has already taken place and are upsetting the faith of some.p 19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands, bearing this inscription, “The Lord knows those who are his”; and, “Let everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord avoid evil.”q 20 In a large household there are vessels not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for lofty and others for humble use. 21 If anyone cleanses himself of these things, he will be a vessel for lofty use, dedicated, beneficial to the master of the house, ready for every good work.r 22 So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord* with purity of heart.s 23 Avoid foolish and ignorant debates, for you know that they breed quarrels.t 24 A slave of the Lord should not quarrel, but should be gentle with everyone, able to teach, tolerant,u 25 correcting opponents with kindness. It may be that God will grant them repentance that leads to knowledge of the truth,v 26 * and that they may return to their senses out of the devil’s snare,w where they are entrapped by him, for his will.
Evangile English	20 c Then the mother* of the sons of Zebedee approached him with her sons and did him homage, wishing to ask him for something. 21 He said to her, “What do you wish?” She answered him, “Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at your right and the other at your left, in your kingdom.” 22 Jesus said in reply, “You do not know what you are asking.* Can you drink the cup that I am going to drink?” They said to him, “We can.” 23 He replied, “My cup you will indeed drink, but to sit at my right and at my left [, this] is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” 24 d When the ten heard this, they became indignant at the two brothers. 25 But Jesus summoned them and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and the great ones make their authority over them felt. 26 But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; 27 e whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. 28 f Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom* for many.”
