Lecture Arabic	16 وفِيما كَانَ بُولُسُ يَنْتَظِرُهُما في أَثِينَا، احْتَدَّتْ رُوحُهُ فِيهِ إِذْ رأَى الـمَدِينَةَ مَمْلُوءَةً أَصْنَامًا. 17 فَكَانَ في الـمَجْمَعِ يُجَادِلُ اليَهُودَ والـمُتَعَبِّدِين، وفي سَاحَةِ الـمَدِينَةِ مَنْ يُصَادِفُهُم كُلَّ يَوْم. 18 وكَانَ أَيْضًا بَعْضُ الفَلاسِفَةِ الإِبِيقُورِيِّينَ والرِوَاقِيِّينَ يُبَاحِثُونَهُ، ويَقُولُ بَعْضُهُم: "مَاذَا يُرِيدُ هـذَا الثَّرْثَارُ أَنْ يَقُول؟". ويَقُولُ آخَرُون: "يَبْدُو أَنَّهُ مُبَشِّرٌ بِآلِهَةٍ غَرِيبَة!"، لأَنَّ بولُسَ كانَ يُبَشِّرُ بِيَسُوعَ وبِالقِيَامَة. 19 فأَخَذُوهُ وذَهَبُوا إِلى مَجْلِسِ الـمَدِينَةِ في الآريُوبَاغُس، وقَالُوا لَهُ: "هَلْ يُمْكِنُنَا أَنْ نَعْرِفَ مَا هـذَا التَّعْلِيمُ الـجَدِيدُ الَّذِي تَتَكَلَّمُ عَنْهُ؟ 20 فَأَنْتَ تُلْقِي إِلى مَسَامِعِنا أَقْوَالاً غَرِيبَة، ونَوَدُّ أَنْ نَعرِفَ مَا تَعْنِي تِلْكَ الأَقْوَال. 22 ووَقَفَ بُولُسُ في وَسَطِ الآريُوبَاغُس وقَال: "يَا رِجَالَ أَثِينَا، إِنِّي أَرَاكُم أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ تَدَيُّنًا، في كُلِّ شَيء. 23 فإِنِّي بَينَما كُنْتُ أَتَجَوَّلُ وأُشَاهِدُ مَعَابِدَكُم، وجَدْتُ مَذْبَحًا مَكْتُوبًا علَيْه: إِلى الإِلـهِ الـمَجْهُول. فمَا تَعبُدُونَهُ وأَنتُم تَجْهَلُونَهُ، بِهِ أَنَا أُبَشِّرُكُم. 24 فاللهُ الَّذِي صَنَعَ العالَمَ وجَمِيعَ مَا فِيه، وهُوَ رَبُّ السَّمَاءِ والأَرْض، لا يَسْكُنُ في هَيَاكِلَ مِنْ صُنْعِ الأَيْدي. 30 وهَا هُوَ اللهُ يَغُضُّ نَظَرَهُ عَنْ أَزْمِنَةِ الـجَهْل، ويَدْعُو الآنَ جَمِيعَ النَّاس، في كُلِّ مَكَان، لِيَتُوبُوا؛ 31 لأَنَّهُ حَدَّدَ يَومًا سَيَدينُ فيهِ الـمَسْكُونَةَ بِالعَدْل، على يَدِ رَجُلٍ عيَّنَهُ وجَعَلَهُ ضَمَانَةً لِلجَميعِ حينَ أَقَامَهُ مِن بَينِ الأَمْوَات". 32 فلَمَّا سَمِعُوا بِقِيَامَةِ الأَمْوَات، أَخَذَ بَعْضُهُم يَسْتَهْزِئُون، وقَالَ آخَرُون: "سَنَسْمَعُ مِنْكَ عَنْ هـذَا مَرَّةً أُخْرى". 33 وهـكَذا خَرَجَ بُولُسُ مِنْ بَيْنِهِم. 34 لـكِنَّ بَعْضَهُمُ انْضَمُّوا إِلَيْهِ وآمَنُوا، ومِنْهُم دِيُونِيسِيُوس الآرِيُوبَاغيّ، وامْرَأَةٌ اسْمُهَا دَمَارِيس، وغَيْرُهُما.
Evangile Arabic	24 إِنَّ الرُّوحَ النَّجِس، إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنَ الإِنْسَان، يَطُوفُ في أَمَاكِنَ لا مَاءَ فِيها، يَطلُبُ الرَّاحَةَ فَلا يَجِدُهَا، فَيَقُول: سَأَعُودُ إِلى بَيْتِي الَّذي خَرَجْتُ مِنْهُ. 25 وَيَعُودُ فَيَجِدُهُ مَكْنُوسًا، مُزَيَّنًا. 26 حِينَئِذٍ يَذْهَبُ وَيَجْلُبُ مَعَهُ سَبْعَةَ أَرْوَاحٍ آخَرِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ شَرًّا، وَيَدْخُلُون، وَيَسْكُنُونَ في ذـلِكَ الإِنْسَان، فَتَكُونُ حَالَتُهُ الأَخِيرَةُ أَسْوَأَ مِنْ حَالَتِهِ الأُولى.

Lecture French	16 Pendant que Paul les attendait à Athènes, il avait l’esprit exaspéré en observant la ville livrée aux idoles. 17 Il discutait donc à la synagogue avec les Juifs et ceux qui adorent Dieu, ainsi qu’avec ceux qu’il rencontrait chaque jour sur l’Agora. 18 Il y avait même des philosophes épicuriens et stoïciens qui venaient s’entretenir avec lui. Certains disaient : « Que peut-il bien vouloir dire, ce radoteur ? » Et d’autres : « On dirait un prêcheur de divinités étrangères. » Ils disaient cela parce que Paul se faisait le messager de « Jésus » et de « Résurrection ». 19 Ils vinrent le prendre pour le conduire à l’Aréopage. Ils lui disaient : « Pouvons-nous savoir quel est cet enseignement nouveau que tu proposes ? 20 Tu nous rebats les oreilles de choses étranges. Nous voulons donc savoir ce que cela signifie. » 22 Alors Paul, debout au milieu de l’Aréopage, fit ce discours : « Athéniens, je peux observer que vous êtes, en toutes choses, des hommes particulièrement religieux. 23 En effet, en me promenant et en observant vos monuments sacrés, j’ai même trouvé un autel avec cette inscription : “Au dieu inconnu.” Or, ce que vous vénérez sans le connaître, voilà ce que, moi, je viens vous annoncer. 24 Le Dieu qui a fait le monde et tout ce qu’il contient, lui qui est Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, n’habite pas des sanctuaires faits de main d’homme ; 30 Et voici que Dieu, sans tenir compte des temps où les hommes l’ont ignoré, leur enjoint maintenant de se convertir, tous et partout. 31 En effet, il a fixé le jour où il va juger la terre avec justice, par un homme qu’il a établi pour cela, quand il l’a accrédité auprès de tous en le ressuscitant d’entre les morts. » 32 Quand ils entendirent parler de résurrection des morts, les uns se moquaient, et les autres déclarèrent : « Là-dessus nous t’écouterons une autre fois. » 33 C’est ainsi que Paul, se retirant du milieu d’eux, s’en alla. 34 Cependant quelques hommes s’attachèrent à lui et devinrent croyants. Parmi eux, il y avait Denys, membre de l’Aréopage, et une femme nommée Damaris, ainsi que d’autres avec eux.
Evangile French	24 Quand l’esprit impur est sorti de l’homme, il parcourt des lieux arides en cherchant où se reposer. Et il ne trouve pas. Alors il se dit : “Je vais retourner dans ma maison, d’où je suis sorti.” 25 En arrivant, il la trouve balayée et bien rangée. 26 Alors il s’en va, et il prend d’autres esprits encore plus mauvais que lui, au nombre de sept ; ils entrent et s’y installent. Ainsi, l’état de cet homme-là est pire à la fin qu’au début. »

Lecture English	While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he grew exasperated at the sight of the city full of idols. 17 So he debated in the synagogue with the Jews and with the worshipers, and daily in the public square with whoever happened to be there. 18 Even some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers* engaged him in discussion. Some asked, “What is this scavenger trying to say?” Others said, “He sounds like a promoter of foreign deities,” because he was preaching about ‘Jesus’ and ‘Resurrection.’ 19 They took him and led him to the Areopagus* and said, “May we learn what this new teaching is that you speak of?g 20 For you bring some strange notions to our ears; we should like to know what these things mean.” 22 Then Paul stood up at the Areopagus and said:* “You Athenians, I see that in every respect you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around looking carefully at your shrines, I even discovered an altar inscribed, ‘To an Unknown God.’* What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands,h 30 God has overlooked the times of ignorance, but now he demands that all people everywhere repent 31 because he has established a day on which he will ‘judge the world with justice’ through a man he has appointed, and he has provided confirmation for all by raising him from the dead.”k 32 When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to scoff, but others said, “We should like to hear you on this some other time.” 33 And so Paul left them. 34 But some did join him, and became believers. Among them were Dionysius, a member of the Court of the Areopagus, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
Evangile English	24 “When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’ 25 But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.”k
