Lecture Arabic	1 وكَانَ في قَيصَرِيَّةَ رَجُلٌ اسْمُهُ كُرْنِيلِيوُس، قائِدُ مئَةٍ منَ الفِرْقَةِ الَّتي تُدْعَى الإِيطالِيَّة. 2 كانَ تَقِيًّا يَخَافُ اللهَ هوَ وجَمِيعُ أَهْلِ بَيتِهِ، ويَتَصَدَّقُ على الشَّعْبِ بِصَدَقاتٍ كَثِيرَة، ويُداوِمُ على الصَّلاةِ لله. 3 وذَاتَ يَوم، نَحْوَ السَّاعَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْر، رأَى جَلِيًّا، في رُؤْيَا، مَلاكَ اللهِ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيهِ ويَقُولُ لَهُ: "يَا كُرْنِيلِيُوس!". 4 فتَفَرَّسَ فيهِ كُرْنِيلِيُوس، وقدِ اسْتَوْلَى عَلَيهِ الـخَوْف، وقَال: "مَا الأَمرُ، يا سَيِّدي؟". قَالَ لَهُ الْمَلاك: "إِنَّ صَلَواتِكَ وصَدَقاتِكَ صَعِدَتْ كَذِكْرٍ أَمَامَ الله. 5 فَأَرْسِلِ الآنَ رِجَالاً إِلى يَافَا، وَاسْتَحضِرْ سِمْعَانَ الـمُلَقَّبَ بِبُطرُس. 6 فَهُوَ نَازِلٌ ضَيْفًا عِندَ دَبَّاغٍ اسْمُهُ سِمْعَان، بَيْتُهُ على شَاطِئِ البَحْر". 7 فلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ الْمَلاكُ الَّذي كانَ يُكَلِّمُهُ، دعَا كُرْنِيلِيُوسُ اثْنَيْنِ مِن خَدَمِهِ، وجُندِيًّا تقِيًّا مِمَّن كانُوا يُلازِمُونَهُ، 8 وأَطْلَعَهُم على كُلِّ مَا في الأَمْر، وأَرْسَلَهُم إِلى يَافَا. 9 وفي الغَد، فيمَا هُم يُتابِعُونَ طَريقَهُم، وَيَقْتَرِبُونَ مِنَ الْمَدينة، صَعِدَ بُطرُسُ إِلى السَّطْحِ وَقْتَ الظُّهْرِ لِيُصَلِّي. 10 وأَحَسَّ بِالْجُوعِ فاشْتَهى أَنْ يَأْكُل. وفيمَا كَانُوا يُهَيِّئُونَ لَهُ الطَّعَام، حَدَثَ لهُ انْخِطَاف، 19 وفِيمَا كَانَ بُطْرُسُ لا يَزَالُ يُفَكِّرُ في الرُّؤْيَا، قَالَ لَهُ الرُّوح: "هُوَذَا رِجَالٌ يَطْلُبُونَكَ. 20 فَقُمْ وَانْزِلْ واذْهَبْ مَعَهُم بِدُونِ تَرَدُّد، لأَنِّي أَنَا أَرْسَلْتُهُم". 21 فنَزَلَ بُطرُسُ إِلى الرِّجَالِ وقَالَ لَهُم: "أَنَا هُوَ الَّذي تَطْلُبُونَهُ. فَمَا السَّبَبُ الَّذي مِنْ أَجْلِهِ أَتَيْتُم؟". 22 فَقَالُوا: "إِنَّ كُرْنِيلِيُوسَ قائِدَ الْمِئَة، وهُوَ رَجُلٌ بَارٌ يَخَافُ الله، وتَشْهَدُ لهُ أُمَّةُ اليَهُودِ كُلُّها، قَد أَوحَى إِلَيهِ مَلاكٌ قِدِّيسٌ أَن يَستَحضِرَكَ إِلى بَيتِهِ ويَسْمَعَ مَا عِنْدَكَ مِنْ كَلام". 23 فدَعاهُم بُطْرُسُ إِلى الدُّخُولِ وأَضَافَهُم. وفي الغَد، قَامَ وخَرَجَ مَعَهُم، ورَافَقَهُ بَعْضُ الإِخْوَةِ مِنْ يَافَا. 24 وفي اليَوْمِ التَّالي، دَخَلَ قَيْصَرِيَّة. أَمَّا كُرْنِيلِيُوسُ فَكَانَ يَنْتَظِرُهُم، وقَدْ دَعَا أَنْسِبَاءَهُ وأَصْدِقَاءَهُ الأَقْرَبِين. 25 ولَمَّا دَخَلَ بُطْرُسُ اسْتَقبَلَهُ كُرْنِيلِيُوس، وارْتَمَى عَلى قَدَمَيهِ سَاجِدًا لهُ. 26 فأَنْهَضَهُ بُطرُسُ قائِلاً: "قُمْ، فإِنِّي أَنا أَيْضًا إِنسان!". 27 ثُمَّ دَخَلَ وهُوَ يُحَادِثُهُ، فوَجَدَ كَثِيرينَ مُجْتَمِعِين، 28 فَقَالَ لَهُم: "أَنتُم تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ مُحَرَّمٌ على اليَهُودِيِّ أَنْ يُخَالِطَ أَجْنَبِيًّا أَو يَدْخُلَ بَيْتَهُ. أَمَّا أَنَا فَقَد أَرَانِي اللهُ أَنْ لا أَقُولَ عَن أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِنَّهُ نَجِسٌ أَو دَنِس. 29 لِذـلِكَ جِئْتُ بِدُونِ مُمَانَعَة، عِندَمَا اسْتَحضَرتُمُوني، وأَوَدُّ الآنَ أَن أَعلَمَ لِمَاذَا اسْتَحْضَرْتُمُونِي". 30 فَقَالَ كُرْنِيلِيُوس: "مُنذُ أَربَعةِ أَيَّام، في مِثْلِ هـذِهِ السَّاعَة، كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي في بَيْتِي صَلاةَ السَّاعَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْر، وإِذا بِرَجُلٍ قَد وَقَفَ أَمَامِي بِثَوبٍ بَرَّاق، 31 وقَال: يَا كُرْنِيلِيُوس، لَقَدِ اسْتُجِيبَتْ صَلاتُكَ، وذُكِرَتْ صَدَقاتُكَ أَمَامَ الله. 32 فأَرْسِلْ إِلى يَافَا، واسْتَدْعِ سِمْعَانَ الـمُلَقَّبَ بِبُطرُس، وهُوَ نَازِلٌ في بَيْتِ سِمْعَانَ الدَّبَّاغ، عَلى شَاطِئِ البَحْر.
Evangile Arabic	21 وسَيُسْلِمُ الأَخُ أَخَاهُ إِلى الـمَوْت، والأَبُ ابْنَهُ، ويَتَمَرَّدُ الأَوْلادُ عَلى وَالِدِيْهِم ويَقْتُلُونَهُم. 22 ويُبْغِضُكُم جَمِيْعُ النَّاسِ مِنْ أَجْلِ اسْمِي، ومَنْ يَصبِرْ إِلى الـمُنْتَهَى يَخْلُصْ. 23 وإِذَا اضْطَهَدُوكُم في هـذِهِ الـمَدِينَة، أُهْرُبُوا إِلى غَيْرِهَا. فَالـحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُم: لَنْ تَبْلُغُوا آخِرَ مُدُنِ إِسْرَائِيلَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ ابْنُ الإِنْسَان. 24 لَيْسَ تِلْميذٌ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ مُعَلِّمِهِ، ولا عَبْدٌ مِنْ سَيِّدِهِ. 25 حَسْبُ التِّلْمِيذِ أَنْ يَصِيْرَ مِثْلَ مُعَلِّمِهِ، والعَبْدِ مِثْلَ سَيِّدِهِ. فَإِنْ كَانَ سَيِّدُ البَيْتِ قَدْ سَمَّوْهُ بَعْلَ زَبُول، فَكَمْ بِالأَحْرَى أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ؟ 26 فَلا تَخَافُوهُم! لأَنَّهُ مَا مِنْ مَحْجُوبٍ إِلاَّ سَيُكْشَف، ومَا مِنْ خَفِيٍّ إِلاَّ سَيُعْرَف.

Lecture French	01 Il y avait à Césarée un homme du nom de Corneille, centurion de la cohorte appelée Italique. 02 C’était quelqu’un de grande piété qui craignait Dieu, lui et tous les gens de sa maison ; il faisait de larges aumônes au peuple juif et priait Dieu sans cesse. 03 Vers la neuvième heure du jour, il eut la vision très claire d’un ange de Dieu qui entrait chez lui et lui disait : « Corneille ! » 04 Celui-ci le fixa du regard et, saisi de crainte, demanda : « Qu’y a-t-il, Seigneur ? » L’ange lui répondit : « Tes prières et tes aumônes sont montées devant Dieu pour qu’il se souvienne de toi. 05 Et maintenant, envoie des hommes à Jaffa et fais venir un certain Simon surnommé Pierre : 06 il est logé chez un autre Simon qui travaille le cuir et dont la maison est au bord de la mer. » 07 Après le départ de l’ange qui lui avait parlé, il appela deux de ses domestiques et l’un des soldats attachés à son service, un homme de grande piété. 08 Leur ayant tout expliqué, il les envoya à Jaffa. 09 Le lendemain, tandis qu’ils étaient en route et s’approchaient de la ville, Pierre monta sur la terrasse de la maison, vers midi, pour prier. 10 Saisi par la faim, il voulut prendre quelque chose. Pendant qu’on lui préparait à manger, il tomba en extase. 19 Comme Pierre réfléchissait encore à sa vision, l’Esprit lui dit : « Voilà trois hommes qui te cherchent. 20 Eh bien, debout, descends, et pars avec eux sans hésiter, car c’est moi qui les ai envoyés. » 21 Pierre descendit trouver les hommes et leur dit : « Me voici, je suis celui que vous cherchez. Pour quelle raison êtes-vous là ? » 22 Ils répondirent : « Le centurion Corneille, un homme juste, qui craint Dieu, et à qui toute la nation juive rend un bon témoignage, a été averti par un ange saint de te faire venir chez lui et d’écouter tes paroles. » 23 Il les fit entrer et leur donna l’hospitalité. Le lendemain, il se mit en route avec eux ; quelques frères de Jaffa l’accompagnèrent. 24 Le jour suivant, il entra à Césarée. Corneille les attendait, et avait rassemblé sa famille et ses amis les plus proches. 25 Comme Pierre arrivait, Corneille vint à sa rencontre et, tombant à ses pieds, il se prosterna. 26 Mais Pierre le releva en disant : « Lève-toi. Je ne suis qu’un homme, moi aussi. » 27 Tout en conversant avec lui, il entra et il trouva beaucoup de gens réunis. 28 Il leur dit : « Vous savez qu’un Juif n’est pas autorisé à fréquenter un étranger ni à entrer en contact avec lui. Mais à moi, Dieu a montré qu’il ne fallait déclarer interdit ou impur aucun être humain. 29 C’est pourquoi, quand vous m’avez envoyé chercher, je suis venu sans réticence. J’aimerais donc savoir pour quelle raison vous m’avez envoyé chercher. » 30 Corneille dit alors : « Il y a maintenant quatre jours, j’étais en train de prier chez moi à la neuvième heure, au milieu de l’après-midi, quand un homme au vêtement éclatant se tint devant moi, 31 et me dit : “Corneille, ta prière a été exaucée, et Dieu s’est souvenu de tes aumônes. 32 Envoie donc quelqu’un à Jaffa pour convoquer Simon surnommé Pierre ;
Evangile French	21 Le frère livrera son frère à la mort, et le père, son enfant ; les enfants se dresseront contre leurs parents et les feront mettre à mort. 22 Vous serez détestés de tous à cause de mon nom ; mais celui qui aura persévéré jusqu’à la fin, celui-là sera sauvé. 23 Quand on vous persécutera dans une ville, fuyez dans une autre. Amen, je vous le dis : vous n’aurez pas fini de passer dans toutes les villes d’Israël quand le Fils de l’homme viendra. 24 Le disciple n’est pas au-dessus de son maître, ni le serviteur au-dessus de son seigneur. 25 Il suffit que le disciple soit comme son maître, et le serviteur, comme son seigneur. Si les gens ont traité de Béelzéboul le maître de maison, ce sera bien pire pour ceux de sa maison. 26 Ne craignez donc pas ces gens-là ; rien n’est voilé qui ne sera dévoilé, rien n’est caché qui ne sera connu.

Lecture English	1 * Now in Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of the Cohort called the Italica,* 2 devout and God-fearing along with his whole household, who used to give alms generously* to the Jewish people and pray to God constantly. 3 One afternoon about three o’clock,* he saw plainly in a vision an angel of God come in to him and say to him, “Cornelius.” 4 He looked intently at him and, seized with fear, said, “What is it, sir?” He said to him, “Your prayers and almsgiving have ascended as a memorial offering before God. 5 Now send some men to Joppa and summon one Simon who is called Peter. 6 He is staying with another Simon, a tanner, who has a house by the sea.”b 7 When the angel who spoke to him had left, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier* from his staff, 8 explained everything to them, and sent them to Joppa. The Vision of Peter. 9 * The next day, while they were on their way and nearing the city, Peter went up to the roof terrace to pray at about noontime.* 10 He was hungry and wished to eat, and while they were making preparations he fell into a trance. 19 As Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said [to him], “There are three men here looking for you.f 20 So get up, go downstairs, and accompany them without hesitation, because I have sent them.” 21 Then Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your being here?” 22 They answered, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, respected by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear what you have to say.”g 23 So he invited them in and showed them hospitality. The next day he got up and went with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him. 24 * On the following day he entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. 25 h When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and, falling at his feet, paid him homage. 26 Peter, however, raised him up, saying, “Get up. I myself am also a human being.” 27 While he conversed with him, he went in and found many people gathered together 28 i and said to them, “You know that it is unlawful for a Jewish man to associate with, or visit, a Gentile, but God has shown me that I should not call any person profane or unclean.* 29 And that is why I came without objection when sent for. May I ask, then, why you summoned me?” 30 Cornelius replied, “Four days ago* at this hour, three o’clock in the afternoon, I was at prayer in my house when suddenly a man in dazzling robes stood before me and said, 31 ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your almsgiving remembered before God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter.
Evangile English	21 * n Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end* will be saved. 23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.* 24 o No disciple is above his teacher, no slave above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, for the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,* how much more those of his household! Courage Under Persecution. 26 p “Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.* q
