Lecture Arabic	14 مَا النَّفْعُ، يا إِخْوتِي، إِنْ قَالَ أَحَدٌ إِنَّ لَهُ إِيْمَانًا ولا أَعْمَالَ لَهُ؟ أَلَعَلَّ الإِيْمَانَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَهُ؟ 15 إِذَا كانَ أَخٌ أَو أُخْتٌ عُرْيَانَيْن، يُعْوِزُهُمَا القُوتُ اليَّومِيّ، 16 ووَاحِدٌ مْنكُم قَالَ لَهُمَا: "إِذْهَبَا بِسَلام، واسْتَدْفِئَا واشْبَعَا"، وأَنْتُم لَمْ تُعْطُوهُمَا حَاجَاتِ الـجَسَد، فَأَيُّ نَفْعٍ في ذـلِكَ؟ 17 كذـلِكَ الإِيْمَانُ أَيْضًا، إِنْ لَمْ يَقْتَرِنْ بالأَعْمَال، فهوَ مَيْتٌ في ذَاتِهِ. 18 ورُبَّ قَائِلٍ يَقُول: "أَنْـتَ لَكَ الإِيْمَان، وأَنا ليَ الأَعْمَال"، فأَقُولُ لَهُ: أَرِنِي إِيْمانَكَ بِدُونِ الأَعْمَال، وأَنَا أُرِيكَ بِالأَعْمَالِ إِيْمَانِي. 19 أَتُؤمِنُ أَنْتَ أَنَّ اللهَ وَاحِد؟ حَسَنًا تَفْعَل! والشَّياطِينُ أَيْضًا تُؤْمِنُ وتَرتَعِد! 20 أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَعْرِف، أَيُّهَا الإِنْسَانُ البَاطِلُ الرَّأْي، أَنَّ الإِيْمَانَ بِدُونِ الأَعْمالِ عَقِيم؟ 21 أَمَا تَبَرَّرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبُونَا بِالأَعْمَال، لَمَّا قَرَّبَ إِسْحـقَ ابْنَهُ على الـمَذْبَح؟ 22 فأَنْتَ تَرَى أَنَّ الإِيْمَانَ كانَ يُعَاوِنُ أَعْمَالَهُ، وبِالأَعْمَالِ صَار إِيْمَانُهُ كامِلاً. 23 فتَمَّ الكِتَابُ القائِل: "آمَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِالله، فَحُسِبَ لَهُ ذـلِكَ بِرًّا"، ودُعِيَ خَلِيلَ الله. 24 تَرَوْنَ إِذًا أَنَّ الإِنْسَانَ يَتَبَرَّرُ بِالأَعْمَالِ لا بِالإِيْمَانِ وَحْدَهُ. 25 كذـلِكَ رَاحَابُ البَغِيّ: أَمَا تَبَرَّرَتْ بِالأَعْمَال، لأَنَّهَا اسْتَضَافَتِ الرَّجُلَينِ الـمُرسَلَيْن، وصَرَفَتْهُمَا بِطَرِيقٍ آخَر؟ 26 فَكَما أَنَّ الـجَسَدَ بِدُونِ الرُّوحِ مَيْت، كَذـلِكَ الإِيْمَانُ بِدُونِ الأَعْمَالِ مَيْت.
Evangile Arabic	31 في ذـلِكَ اليَوْم، مَنْ كانَ عَلَى السَّطْحِ وَأَمْتِعَتُهُ في البَيْت، فَلا يَنْزِلْ لِيَأْخُذَهَا. وَمَنْ كانَ في الـحَقْل، فَكَذـلِكَ لا يَرْجِعْ إِلى الوَرَاء. 32 تَذَكَّرُوا امْرَأَةَ لُوط! 33 مَنْ يَسْعَى لِكَي يَحْفَظَ نَفْسَهُ يَفْقِدُها، وَمَنْ يَفْقِدُ نَفْسَهُ يَحْفَظُهَا حَيَّةً. 34 أَقُولُ لَكُم: في تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَة، يَكُونُ اثْنَانِ عَلَى سَرِيرٍ وَاحِد، فَيُؤْخَذُ الوَاحِدُ وَيُتْرَكُ الآخَر. 35 واثْنَتَانِ تَطْحَنَانِ مَعًا، فَتُؤْخَذُ الوَاحِدَةُ وَتُتْرَكُ الأُخْرَى". 36 … 37 فأَجَابُوا وَقَالُوا لَهُ: "إِلَى أَيْنَ يا رَبّ ؟". فَقالَ لَهُم: "حَيْثُ تَكُونُ الـجُثَّة، فَهُنَاكَ تَجْتَمِعُ النُّسُور".

Lecture French	14 Mes frères, si quelqu’un prétend avoir la foi, sans la mettre en œuvre, à quoi cela sert-il ? Sa foi peut-elle le sauver ? 15 Supposons qu’un frère ou une sœur n’ait pas de quoi s’habiller, ni de quoi manger tous les jours ; 16 si l’un de vous leur dit : « Allez en paix ! Mettez-vous au chaud, et mangez à votre faim ! » sans leur donner le nécessaire pour vivre, à quoi cela sert-il ? 17 Ainsi donc, la foi, si elle n’est pas mise en œuvre, est bel et bien morte. 18 En revanche, on va dire : « Toi, tu as la foi ; moi, j’ai les œuvres. Montre-moi donc ta foi sans les œuvres ; moi, c’est par mes œuvres que je te montrerai la foi. 19 Toi, tu crois qu’il y a un seul Dieu. Fort bien ! Mais les démons, eux aussi, le croient et ils tremblent. 20 Homme superficiel, veux-tu reconnaître que la foi sans les œuvres ne sert à rien ? 21 N’est-ce pas par ses œuvres qu’Abraham notre père est devenu juste, lorsqu’il a présenté son fils Isaac sur l’autel du sacrifice ? 22 Tu vois bien que la foi agissait avec ses œuvres et, par les œuvres, la foi devint parfaite. 23 Ainsi fut accomplie la parole de l’Écriture : Abraham eut foi en Dieu ; aussi, il lui fut accordé d’être juste, et il reçut le nom d’ami de Dieu. » 24 Vous voyez bien : l’homme devient juste par les œuvres, et non seulement par la foi. 25 Il en fut de même pour Rahab, la prostituée : n’est-elle pas, elle aussi, devenue juste par ses œuvres, en accueillant les envoyés de Josué et en les faisant repartir par un autre chemin ? 26 Ainsi, comme le corps privé de souffle est mort, de même la foi sans les œuvres est morte.
Evangile French	31 En ce jour-là, celui qui sera sur sa terrasse, et aura ses affaires dans sa maison, qu’il ne descende pas pour les emporter ; et de même celui qui sera dans son champ, qu’il ne retourne pas en arrière. 32 Rappelez-vous la femme de Loth. 33 Qui cherchera à conserver sa vie la perdra. Et qui la perdra la sauvegardera. 34 Je vous le dis : Cette nuit-là, deux personnes seront dans le même lit : l’une sera prise, l’autre laissée. 35 Deux femmes seront ensemble en train de moudre du grain : l’une sera prise, l’autre laissée. » 37 Prenant alors la parole, les disciples lui demandèrent : « Où donc, Seigneur ? » Il leur répondit : « Là où sera le corps, là aussi se rassembleront les vautours. »

Lecture English	14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?i 15 If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?j 17 So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 Indeed someone may say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works. 19 You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble. 20 Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?k 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works. 23 Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called “the friend of God.”l 24 See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route?m 26 For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
Evangile English	31 p On that day, a person who is on the housetop and whose belongings are in the house must not go down to get them, and likewise a person in the field must not return to what was left behind.q 32 Remember the wife of Lot. 33 Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it.r 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. 35 s And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left.” [36] * 37 They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there also the vultures will gather.”t
