Lecture Arabic	23 وفي ذ,لِكَ الوَقْت، حَدَثَتْ بَلْبَلَةٌ كَبيرَةٌ ضِدَّ طَريقِ الرَّبّ. 24 فقَدْ كَانَ صَائِغٌ، اسْمُهُ دِيـمِتْرِيُوس، يَصْنَعُ هَيَاكِلَ فِضِّيَّةً لأَرْتَامِيس، ويُكْسِبُ الصُّنَّاعَ مَالاً كَثيرًا. 25 فجَمَعَ هـؤُلاءِ الصُّنَّاعَ والقَائِمينَ بِصِنَاعَاتٍ مُمَاثِلة، وقالَ لَهُم: "أَيُّها الرِّجَال، أَنْتُم تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَغْدَ عَيْشِنا هُوَ بِفَضْلِ هـذِهِ الصِّنَاعَة. 26 وأَنْتُم تَرَوْنَ وتَسْمَعُونَ أَنَّ بُولُسَ هـذَا قَدْ أَقْنَعَ جَمْعًا كثيرًا، لا في أَفَسُسَ وَحْدَهَا بَلْ في كُلِّ آسيَا تَقْريبًا، وضَلَّلَهُم بِقَوْلِهِ إِنَّ مَنْ تَصْنَعُهُم أَيْدِينَا لَيْسُوا بِآلِهَة. 27 فهـذَا خَطَرٌ لا يَؤُولُ بِحِرْفَتِنا إِلى الكَسَادِ فحَسْب، بَلْ هُوَ يُهَدِّدُ بِالبُطْلانِ هَيْكَلَ الإِلـهَةِ العَظيمَةِ أَرْتامِيس، ويُقَوِّضُ عَظَمَتَها، هِيَ الَّتِي يَعْبُدُها جَمِيعُ النَّاسِ في آسِيَا والـمَسْكُونَةِ بأَسْرِهَا. 28 فلَمَّا سَمِعُوا ذـلِكَ، امْتَلأُوا غَضَبًا، وأَخَذُوا يَصِيحُونَ قَائِلين: "عَظِيمَةٌ أَرْتَاميسُ إِلـهَةُ الأَفَسُسِيِّين". 29 وعَمَّ الشَّغَبُ الـمَدِينَةَ بأَسْرِهَا، فَانْدَفَعُوا كُلُّهُم معًا إِلى الـمَسْرَح، بَعْدَ أَنِ اخْتَطَفُوا غَايُوسَ وأَرِسْتَرْخُسَ الـمَقْدُونِيَّيْن، رَفِيقَيْ بُولُسَ في سَفَرِهِ. 35 أَخيرًا هَدَّأَ مُسْتَشَارُ الـمَدِينَةِ الـجَمْعَ وقَال: "يَا رِجَالَ أَفَسُس، مَنْ مِنَ النَّاسِ لا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّ أَفَسُسَ هِيَ الـمَدِينَةُ الـحَارِسَةُ لِهَيكَلِ أَرْتامِيسَ العَظِيمَة، وصَنَمِهَا الَّذِي هَبَطَ مِنَ السَّمَاء؟ 36 هـذَا أَمْرٌ لا خِلافَ فِيه. فعَلَيْكُم أَنْ تَهْدَأُوا، وحَذَارِ أَنْ تتَسَرَّعُوا. 37 وقَدْ جِئْتُم بِهـذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْن، معَ أَنَّهُما لَمْ يَنْتَهِكَا حُرْمَةَ إِلـهَتِنَا، ولَمْ يُجَدِّفَا عَلَيْها. 38 فإِنْ يَكُنْ لِدِيْمِتْرِيُوسَ وأَصْحَابِهِ الصُّنَّاعِ دَعْوى عَلى أَحَد، فَإِنَّ هُنَاكَ مَحَاكِمَ وَوُلاة، فَلْيَتَقَدَّمُوا إِلَيْهِم بِشَكْوَاهُم. 39 وإِنْ كُنْتُم تَطْلُبُونَ أَمْرًا آخَر، فإِنَّهُ يُبَتُّ في مَحْفِلٍ شَرْعِيّ. 40 فنَحْنُ في خَطَرٍ أَنْ نُتَّهَمَ بِالفِتْنَةِ بَسَبَبِ مَا حَدَثَ اليَوْم، إِذْ لَيْسَ لَنَا حُجَّةٌ نَسْتَطيعُ بِها أَنْ نُبَرِّرَ هـذَا التَّجَمُّع". قالَ هـذَا وصَرَفَ الـجَمَاعَة.
Evangile Arabic	47 أَلوَيْلُ لَكُم! لأَنَّكُم تَبْنُونَ قُبُورَ الأَنْبِيَاء، وَآبَاؤُكُم هُمُ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوهُم. 48 فَأَنْتُم إِذًا شُهُود! وَتُوَافِقُونَ عَلَى أَعْمَالِ آبَائِكُم، لأَنَّهُم هُمْ قَتَلُوهُم وَأَنْتُم تَبْنُونَ قُبُورَهُم. 49 وَلِهـذَا قَالَتْ حِكْمَةُ الله: أُرْسِلُ إِلَيْهِم أَنْبِياءَ وَرُسُلاً، فَيَقْتُلُونَ مِنْهُم وَيَضطَهِدُون، 50 لِكَي يُطْلَبَ مِنْ هـذا الـجِيلِ دَمُ جَمِيعِ الأَنْبِيَاء، أَلَّذي سُفِكَ مُنْذُ إِنْشَاءِ العَالَم، 51 مِنْ دَمِ هَابيلَ إِلى دَمِ زَكَرِيَّا، الَّذي قُتِلَ بَيْنَ الـمَذْبَحِ وَالـهَيكَل. نَعَم، أَقُولُ لَكُم، إِنَّهُ سَيُطْلَبُ مِنْ هـذَا الـجِيل.

Lecture French	23 C’est à cette époque qu’il y eut des troubles non négligeables à propos du Chemin du Seigneur Jésus. 24 Un orfèvre nommé Démétrios, qui fabriquait des sanctuaires d’Artémis en argent, procurait aux artisans des bénéfices non négligeables. 25 Il les réunit, avec les ouvriers qui exerçaient des métiers du même genre, et il leur dit : « Mes amis, vous savez que ces bénéfices sont la source de notre prospérité. 26 Or vous voyez bien et vous entendez ce que l’on dit : non seulement à Éphèse mais dans presque toute la province d’Asie, ce Paul, par sa persuasion, a dévoyé toute une foule de gens, en disant que les dieux faits de main d’homme ne sont pas des dieux. 27 Cela risque non seulement de jeter le discrédit sur notre profession, mais encore de faire compter pour rien le temple d’Artémis, la grande déesse, et bientôt de la priver de son prestige, elle qui est adorée par toute l’Asie et le monde entier. » 28 Remplis de fureur, les auditeurs criaient : « Grande est l’Artémis des Éphésiens ! » 29 La confusion gagna la ville entière, et les gens se précipitèrent tous ensemble au théâtre, en y entraînant avec eux les Macédoniens Gaïos et Aristarque, compagnons de voyage de Paul. 35 Le secrétaire de la cité, ayant calmé la foule, prit la parole : « Éphésiens, quel homme en ce monde ignore que la cité d’Éphèse est la gardienne du temple de la grande Artémis et de sa statue tombée du ciel ? 36 Cela est incontestable. Il vous faut donc garder votre calme et éviter toute action précipitée. 37 Vous avez amené ici ces hommes, qui n’ont commis ni vol sacrilège, ni blasphème contre notre déesse. 38 Si donc Démétrios et les artisans qui l’accompagnent ont un grief contre quelqu’un, il existe des jours d’audience, et il y a des proconsuls : qu’ils portent plainte. 39 Mais si vous avez d’autres requêtes, cela se réglera à l’assemblée prévue par la loi. 40 En effet, avec l’affaire d’aujourd’hui, nous risquons d’être accusés d’émeute, car nous ne pourrons alléguer aucun motif pour rendre compte de ce rassemblement. » Ayant ainsi parlé, il renvoya l’assemblée.
Evangile French	47 Quel malheur pour vous, parce que vous bâtissez les tombeaux des prophètes, alors que vos pères les ont tués. 48 Ainsi vous témoignez que vous approuvez les actes de vos pères, puisque eux-mêmes ont tué les prophètes, et vous, vous bâtissez leurs tombeaux. 49 C’est pourquoi la Sagesse de Dieu elle-même a dit : Je leur enverrai des prophètes et des apôtres ; parmi eux, ils en tueront et en persécuteront. 50 Ainsi cette génération devra rendre compte du sang de tous les prophètes qui a été versé depuis la fondation du monde, 51 depuis le sang d’Abel jusqu’au sang de Zacharie, qui a péri entre l’autel et le sanctuaire. Oui, je vous le déclare : on en demandera compte à cette génération.

Lecture English	23 About that time a serious disturbance broke out concerning the Way. 24 There was a silversmith named Demetrius who made miniature silver shrines of Artemis* and provided no little work for the craftsmen. 25 He called a meeting of these and other workers in related crafts and said, “Men, you know well that our prosperity derives from this work. 26 As you can now see and hear, not only in Ephesus but throughout most of the province of Asia this Paul has persuaded and misled a great number of people by saying that gods made by hands are not gods at all.e 27 The danger grows, not only that our business will be discredited, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be of no account, and that she whom the whole province of Asia and all the world worship will be stripped of her magnificence.” 28 When they heard this, they were filled with fury and began to shout, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 29 The city was filled with confusion, and the people rushed with one accord into the theater, seizing Gaius and Aristarchus, the Macedonians, Paul’s traveling companions.f 35 Finally the town clerk restrained the crowd and said, “You Ephesians, what person is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the guardian of the temple* of the great Artemis and of her image that fell from the sky? 36 Since these things are undeniable, you must calm yourselves and not do anything rash. 37 The men you brought here are not temple robbers, nor have they insulted our goddess. 38 If Demetrius and his fellow craftsmen have a complaint against anyone, courts are in session, and there are proconsuls. Let them bring charges against one another. 39 If you have anything further to investigate, let the matter be settled in the lawful assembly, 40 for, as it is, we are in danger of being charged with rioting because of today’s conduct. There is no cause for it. We shall [not]* be able to give a reason for this demonstration.” With these words he dismissed the assembly.
Evangile English	47 a Woe to you! You build the memorials of the prophets whom your ancestors killed. 48 Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building. 49 b Therefore, the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles;* some of them they will kill and persecute’ 50 in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah* who died between the altar and the temple building. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood!c
