Lecture Arabic	1 أُنَاشِدُ الكَهَنَةَ بَينَكُم، أَنَا الكَاهِنَ رَفِيقَهُم، والشَّاهِدَ لآلامِ الـمَسِيح، والشَّرِيكَ أَيْضًا في الـمَجْدِ الـمُزْمِعِ أَنْ يُعْلَن: 2 إِرْعَوا قَطِيعَ اللهِ الـمَوْكُولَ إِلَيْكُم، واسْهَرُوا عَلَيْهِ لا كُرْهًا بَلْ طَوْعًا، وَفْقَ مَشِيئَةِ الله، ولا سَعْيًا إِلى رِبْحٍ خَسِيس، بَلْ بكُلِّ نَشَاط. 3 ولا تَتَصَرَّفُوا كأَسْيادٍ على مَنْ وضَعَهُمُ اللهُ أَمَانَةً بَينَ أَيْدِيكُم، بَلْ كُونُوا مِثَالاً لِلقَطِيع. 4 ومَتَى ظَهَرَ رَاعِي الرُّعَاة، تُحْرِزُونَ إِكْلِيلَ الـمَجْدِ الَّذي لا يَذْبُل. 5 كَذـلِكَ أَنْتُم أَيُّهَا الشُّبَّان، إِخْضَعُوا لِكَهَنَتِكُم. إِلبَسُوا جَمِيعُكُم ثَوْبَ التَّواضُع، بَعضُكُم تُجاهَ بَعْض، "لأَنَّ اللهَ يُقاوِمُ الـمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ويَهَبُ النِّعْمَةَ لِلمُتَواضِعِين". 6 فَتَوَاضَعُوا إِذًا تَحْتَ يَدِ اللهِ القَادِرَة، لِكَي يَرفَعَكُم في الوَقْتِ الـمُحَدَّد. 7 أَلْقُوا عَلَيهِ هَمَّكُم كُلَّهُ، لأَنَّهُ يَعتَنِي بِكُم. 8 أُصْحُوا واسْهَرُوا. إِنَّ خَصْمَكُم إِبْليسَ يَزْأَرُ ويَجُولُ كالأَسَدِ بَاحِثًا عَمَّن يَبْتَلِعُهُ. 9 فقَاوِمُوهُ رَاسِخِينَ في الإِيْمان، عَالِمِينَ أَنَّ تِلْكَ الآلامَ نَفْسَهَا تُصِيبُ أَيْضًا إِخْوَتَكُم الَّذِينَ في العَالَم. 10 واللهُ، إِلـهُ كُلِّ نِعْمَة، الَّذي دَعَاكُم إِلى مَجْدِهِ الأَبَدِيِّ في الْمَسِيح، هُوَ يُعَافِيكُم، بَعْدَمَا تأَلَّمْتُم وقتًا قَلِيلاً، ويُرَسِّخُكُم، ويُؤَيِّدُكُم، ويُثَبِّتُكُم، 11 لَهُ القُدرَةُ للدُّهُورِ. آمين. 12 كتَبْتُ إِلَيْكُم وأَوْجَزْتُ، بِيَدِ سِلْوَانُسَ الأَخِ الَّذي أَعْتَبِرُهُ الأَخَ الأَمِين، لأُشَجِّعَكُم وأَشْهَدَ أَنَّ هـذِهِ هِيَ نِعْمَةُ اللهِ الـحَقَّة، فَاثْبُتُوا فيهَا! 13 تُسَلِّمُ علَيْكُم الكَنِيسَةُ الَّتي في بَابِل، والَّتي هِيَ مُخْتَارَةٌ مِثْلُكُم، ويُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكُم مَرقُسُ ابنِي. 14 سَلِّمُوا بَعْضُكُم على بَعضٍ بِقُبْلَةِ الـمَحَبَّة. أَلسَّلامُ لَكُم جَمِيعًا أَنتُمُ الَّذِينَ في الْمَسِيح!
Evangile Arabic	60 فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهُ كَثِيرُونَ مِنْ تَلامِيذِهِ، قَالُوا :"إِنَّ هـذَا الكَلامَ صَعْبٌ، مَنْ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَسْمَعَهُ؟". 61 وعَلِمَ يَسُوعُ في نَفْسِهِ أَنَّ تَلامِيذَهُ يَتَذَمَّرُونَ مِنْ كَلامِهِ هـذَا، فَقَالَ لَهُم: "أَهـذَا يُسَبِّبُ شَكًّا لَكُم؟ 62 فَكَيْفَ لَو شَاهَدْتُمُ ابْنَ الإِنْسَانِ صَاعِدًا إِلى حَيْثُ كَانَ أَوَّلاً؟ 63 أَلرُّوحُ هُوَ الـمُحْيِي، والـجَسَدُ لا يُفيدُ شَيْئًا. والكَلامُ الَّذِي كَلَّمْتُكُم أَنَا بِهِ هُوَ رُوحٌ وهُوَ حَيَاة. 64 لـكِنَّ بَعْضًا مِنْكُم لا يُؤْمِنُون". قَالَ يَسُوعُ هـذَا لأَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ البَدْءِ يَعْلَمُ مَنِ الَّذِينَ لا يُؤْمِنُون، ومَنِ الَّذي سَيُسْلِمُهُ. 65 ثُمَّ قَال: "لِهـذَا قُلْتُ لَكُم: لا أَحَدَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ إِليَّ، مَا لَمْ يُعْطَ لَهُ ذـلِكَ مِنْ لَدُنِ الآب". 66 مِنْ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ ارْتَدَّ عَنْ يَسُوعَ كَثِيرُونَ مِنْ تَلامِيذِهِ، ولَمْ يَعُودُوا يَتْبَعُونَهُ. 67 فَقَالَ يَسُوعُ لِلاثْنَي عَشَر: "وَأَنْتُم، أَلا تُرِيدُونَ أَيْضًا أَنْ تَذْهَبُوا؟". 68 أَجَابَهُ سِمْعَانُ بُطْرُس: "يَا رَبّ، إِلى مَنْ نَذْهَب، وكَلامُ الـحَيَاةِ عِنْدَكَ؟ 69 ونَحْنُ آمَنَّا، وعَرَفْنَا أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ قُدُّوسُ الله". 70 أَجَابَهُم يَسُوع: "أَمَا أَنَا اخْتَرْتُكُم، أَنْتُمُ الاثْنَي عَشَر؟ مَعَ ذـلِكَ فَوَاحِدٌ مِنْكُم شَيْطَان!". 71 وكَان يُشيرُ إِلى يَهُوذَا بْنِ سِمْعَانَ الإِسْخَريُوطِيّ، الَّذي كَانَ مُزمِعًا أَنْ يُسْلِمَهُ، وهُوَ أَحَدُ الاثْنَي عَشَر.

Lecture French	01 Quant aux anciens en fonction parmi vous, je les exhorte, moi qui suis ancien comme eux et témoin des souffrances du Christ, communiant à la gloire qui va se révéler : 02 soyez les pasteurs du troupeau de Dieu qui se trouve chez vous ; veillez sur lui, non par contrainte mais de plein gré, selon Dieu ; non par cupidité mais par dévouement ; 03 non pas en commandant en maîtres à ceux qui vous sont confiés, mais en devenant les modèles du troupeau. 04 Et, quand se manifestera le Chef des pasteurs, vous recevrez la couronne de gloire qui ne se flétrit pas. 05 De même, vous les jeunes gens, soyez soumis aux anciens. Et vous tous, les uns envers les autres, prenez l’humilité comme tenue de service. En effet, Dieu s’oppose aux orgueilleux, aux humbles il accorde sa grâce. 06 Abaissez-vous donc sous la main puissante de Dieu, pour qu’il vous élève en temps voulu. 07 Déchargez-vous sur lui de tous vos soucis, puisqu’il prend soin de vous. 08 Soyez sobres, veillez : votre adversaire, le diable, comme un lion rugissant, rôde, cherchant qui dévorer. 09 Résistez-lui avec la force de la foi, car vous savez que tous vos frères, de par le monde, sont en butte aux mêmes souffrances. 10 Après que vous aurez souffert un peu de temps, le Dieu de toute grâce, lui qui, dans le Christ Jésus, vous a appelés à sa gloire éternelle, vous rétablira lui-même, vous affermira, vous fortifiera, vous rendra inébranlables. 11 À lui la souveraineté pour les siècles. Amen. 12 Par Silvain, que je considère comme un frère digne de confiance, je vous écris ces quelques mots pour vous exhorter, et pour attester que c’est vraiment dans la grâce de Dieu que vous tenez ferme. 13 La communauté qui est à Babylone, choisie comme vous par Dieu, vous salue, ainsi que Marc, mon fils. 14 Saluez-vous les uns les autres par un baiser fraternel. Paix à vous tous, qui êtes dans le Christ.
Evangile French	60 Beaucoup de ses disciples, qui avaient entendu, déclarèrent : « Cette parole est rude ! Qui peut l’entendre ? » 61 Jésus savait en lui-même que ses disciples récriminaient à son sujet. Il leur dit : « Cela vous scandalise ? 62 Et quand vous verrez le Fils de l’homme monter là où il était auparavant !... 63 C’est l’esprit qui fait vivre, la chair n’est capable de rien. Les paroles que je vous ai dites sont esprit et elles sont vie. 64 Mais il y en a parmi vous qui ne croient pas. » Jésus savait en effet depuis le commencement quels étaient ceux qui ne croyaient pas, et qui était celui qui le livrerait. 65 Il ajouta : « Voilà pourquoi je vous ai dit que personne ne peut venir à moi si cela ne lui est pas donné par le Père. » 66 À partir de ce moment, beaucoup de ses disciples s’en retournèrent et cessèrent de l’accompagner. 67 Alors Jésus dit aux Douze : « Voulez-vous partir, vous aussi ? » 68 Simon-Pierre lui répondit : « Seigneur, à qui irions-nous ? Tu as les paroles de la vie éternelle. 69 Quant à nous, nous croyons, et nous savons que tu es le Saint de Dieu. » 70 Jésus leur dit : « N’est-ce pas moi qui vous ai choisis, vous, les Douze ? Et l’un de vous est un diable ! » 71 Il parlait de Judas, fils de Simon Iscariote ; celui-ci, en effet, l’un des Douze, allait le livrer.

Lecture English	1 So I exhort the presbyters* among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who has a share in the glory to be revealed. 2 Tend the flock of God in your midst, [overseeing] not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly.a 3 Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock. 4 b And when the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.* Advice to the Community.* 5 Likewise, you younger members,* be subject to the presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: “God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble.”c 6 So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.d 7 Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.e 8 Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour.f 9 Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings. 10 The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ [Jesus] will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.g 11 To him be dominion forever. Amen. 12 I write you this briefly through Silvanus,* whom I consider a faithful brother, exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Remain firm in it. 13 The chosen one* at Babylon sends you greeting, as does Mark, my son. 14 Greet one another with a loving kiss. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.h
Evangile English	60 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” 61 Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? 62 What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?* 63 It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh* is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.c 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.” 66 As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. 67 Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”d 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?” 71 He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.e
