Lecture Arabic	1 لِذـلِكَ، لَمَّا لَمْ نَعُدْ نُطِيقُ الانْتِظَار، إِرْتَضَيْنَا أَنْ نَبْقى وَحْدَنَا في أَثينَا، 2 وأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُم طِيمُوتَاوُس، أَخانَا، ومُعَاوِنَ اللهِ في إِنْجِيلِ الْمَسِيح، لِيُثَبِّتَكُم في إِيْمَانِكُم ويَعِظَكُم، 3 فلا يَتَزَعْزَعَ أَحَدٌ في هـذِهِ الضِّيقَات، وأَنْتُم أَنْفُسُكُم تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّنَا جُعِلْنَا لِذـلِكَ. 4 ولَمَّا كُنَّا عِنْدَكُم، كُنَّا نُنْبِئُكُم أَنَّنَا سَنُعَاني الضِّيقات، وهـذَا مَا حَدَث، كَمَا تَعْلَمُون. 5 لِذـلِكَ، أَنا أَيضًا، إِذْ لَمْ أَعُدْ أُطِيقُ الانْتِظَار، أَرْسَلْتُ أَسْتَخْبِرُ عَنْ إِيْمَانِكُم، لِئَلاَّ يَكُونَ الـمُجَرِّبُ قَدْ جَرَّبَكُم، ويَذْهَبَ تَعَبُنَا بَاطِلاً. 6 أَمَّا الآنَ فقَدْ عَادَ طِيمُوتَاوُسُ مِنْ عِنْدِكُم إِلَيْنَا، وبَشَّرَنَا بإِيْمِانِكُم ومَحَبَّتِكُم، وبِأَنَّكُم تَذكُرُونَنَا عَلى الدَّوَامِ ذِكْرًا طيِّبًا، وَأَنَّكُم مُشْتَاقُونَ إِلى رُؤْيَتِنَا كَما أَنَّنَا نَحْنُ مُشْتَاقُونَ إِلى رُؤْيَتِكُم. 7 لِذـلِكَ تَعَزَّيْنَا بِكُم، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَة، في شِدَّتِنَا وضِيقِنَا، بِفَضْلِ إِيْمَانِكُم. 8 وإِنَّنَا الآنَ نَحْيَا، بِمَا أَنَّكُم أَنْتُم ثَابِتُونَ في الرَّبّ. 9 فَأَيَّ شُكْرٍ نَسْتَطيعُ أَنْ نُؤَدِّيَ إِلى اللهِ مِنْ أَجلِكُم، عَنْ كُلِّ الفَرَحِ الَّذي نَفْرَحُهُ بِكُم، في حَضْرَةِ إِلـهِنَا؟ 10 ونَحنُ نَطلُبُ إِلَيهِ بإِلْحَاحٍ لَيْلَ نَهَار، أَنْ نَرَى وَجْهَكُم، ونُكَمِّلَ مَا نَقَصَ مِنْ إِيْمَانِكُم. 11 عَسَى أَنْ يُقَوِّمَ طَرِيقَنَا إِلَيكُمُ اللهُ أَبُونَا نَفْسُهُ، ورَبُّنَا يَسُوع! 12 وَلْيَجْعَلْكُمُ الرَّبُّ تَزِيدُونَ وتَفِيْضُونَ مَحَبَّةً بَعضُكُم لِبَعْضٍ وَلِلجَمِيع، كَما نَحْنُ نُحِبُّكُم! 13 وَلْيُثَبِّتْ قُلُوبَكُم في القَدَاسَةِ بِغَيرِ لَوْم، في حَضْرَةِ إِلـهِنَا وأَبِينَا، عِندَ مَجِيءِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوع في صُحْبَةِ جَميعِ قِدِّيسِيه!
Evangile Arabic	16 ولَمَّا حَلَّ الـمَسَاء، نَزَلَ تَلامِيذُهُ إِلى البَحر. 17 فَرَكِبُوا سَفِينَةً لِيَعْبُرُوا البَحْرَ إِلى كَفَرْنَاحُوم. وخَيَّمَ الظَّلامُ ولَمْ يَكُنْ يَسُوعُ قَد لَحِقَ بِهِم. 18 وهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَهَاجَ البَحْر. 19 وبَعْدَمَا جَذَّفُوا نَحْوَ خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ غَلْوَةً أَو ثَلاثِين، شَاهَدُوا يَسُوعَ مَاشِيًا عَلى البَحْرِ مُقْتَرِبًا مِنَ السَّفِينَة، فَخَافُوا. 20 فَقَالَ لَهُم يَسُوع: "أَنَا هُوَ، لا تَخَافُوا". 21 فَأَرَادُوا أَنْ يُصْعِدُوهُ إِلى السَّفِينَة، وإِذَا بِالسَّفِينَةِ تَصِلُ إِلى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي كَانُوا ذَاهِبينَ إِلَيْهَا.

Lecture French	01 C’est pourquoi, n’y tenant plus, nous avons préféré rester seuls à Athènes, Silvain et moi, 02 et nous vous avons envoyé Timothée, notre frère, collaborateur de Dieu pour l’annonce de l’Évangile du Christ. Il devait vous affermir et vous réconforter dans votre foi, 03 afin que personne ne soit ébranlé dans les détresses actuelles, car vous savez bien, vous-mêmes, que nous y sommes exposés. 04 En effet, quand nous étions chez vous, nous vous annoncions que la détresse devait nous atteindre, et c’est ce qui est arrivé, vous le savez bien. 05 Voilà pourquoi, n’y tenant plus, j’ai envoyé quelqu’un pour savoir où en était votre foi, de peur que peut-être le Tentateur ne vous ait tentés, et que notre peine ne soit perdue. 06 Or Timothée vient de nous arriver de chez vous, et il nous a apporté la bonne nouvelle de votre foi et de votre charité ; il nous a dit que vous gardez toujours un bon souvenir de nous, et que vous avez le très vif désir de nous revoir, comme nous l’avons à votre égard. 07 C’est pourquoi, frères, nous sommes réconfortés grâce à vous au milieu de toutes nos difficultés et de notre détresse, à cause de votre foi. 08 Et maintenant nous revivons, puisque vous autres, vous tenez bon dans le Seigneur. 09 Comment pourrions-nous assez rendre grâce à Dieu à votre sujet, pour toute la joie que nous avons à cause de vous devant notre Dieu ? 10 Nous le prions avec ardeur, jour et nuit, pour que nous puissions revoir votre visage et compléter ce qui manque à votre foi. 11 Que Dieu lui-même, notre Père, et que notre Seigneur Jésus nous tracent le chemin jusqu’à vous. 12 Que le Seigneur vous donne, entre vous et à l’égard de tous les hommes, un amour de plus en plus intense et débordant, comme celui que nous avons pour vous. 13 Et qu’ainsi il affermisse vos cœurs, les rendant irréprochables en sainteté devant Dieu notre Père, lors de la venue de notre Seigneur Jésus avec tous les saints. Amen.
Evangile French	16 Le soir venu, ses disciples descendirent jusqu’à la mer. 17 Ils s’embarquèrent pour gagner Capharnaüm, sur l’autre rive. C’était déjà les ténèbres, et Jésus n’avait pas encore rejoint les disciples. 18 Un grand vent soufflait, et la mer était agitée. 19 Les disciples avaient ramé sur une distance de vingt-cinq ou trente stades (c’est-à-dire environ cinq mille mètres), lorsqu’ils virent Jésus qui marchait sur la mer et se rapprochait de la barque. Alors, ils furent saisis de peur. 20 Mais il leur dit : « C’est moi. N’ayez plus peur. » 21 Les disciples voulaient le prendre dans la barque ; aussitôt, la barque toucha terre là où ils se rendaient.

Lecture English	1 That is why, when we could bear it no longer, we decided to remain alone in Athensa 2 and sent Timothy, our brother and co-worker for God in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,b 3 so that no one be disturbed in these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined* for this. 4 For even when we were among you, we used to warn you in advance that we would undergo affliction, just as has happened, as you know.c 5 For this reason, when I too could bear it no longer, I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had put you to the test and our toil might come to nothing. 6 But just now Timothy has returned to us from you, bringing us the good news of your faith and love, and that you always think kindly of us and long to see us as we long to see you. 7 Because of this, we have been reassured about you, brothers, in our every distress and affliction, through your faith. 8 For we now live, if you stand firm in the Lord. Concluding Thanksgiving and Prayer. 9 * What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God for you, for all the joy we feel on your account before our God? 10 Night and day we pray beyond measure to see you in person and to remedy the deficiencies of your faith. 11 Now may God himself, our Father, and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you, 12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you,d 13 so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Evangile English	16 j When it was evening, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 embarked in a boat, and went across the sea to Capernaum. It had already grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea* and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid.k 20 But he said to them, “It is I.* Do not be afraid.” 21 They wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading.
