Lecture Arabic	11 هـذِهِ هِيَ البُشْرَى الَّتي سَمِعْتُمُوهَا مُنْذُ البَدْء: أَنْ يُحِبَّ بَعضُنَا بَعْضًا، 12 لا مِثْلَ قايِينَ الَّذي كَانَ مِنَ الشِّرِّيرِ فذَبَحَ أَخَاه. ولِمَاذَا ذَبَحَهُ؟ لأَنَّ أَعْمَالَهُ كانَتْ شِرِّيرَة، وأَعْمَالَ أَخِيهِ بَارَّة. 13 فلا تَتَعَجَّبُوا، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَة، إِذَا كانَ العَالَمُ يُبْغِضُكُم. 14 نَحْنُ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّنَا انْتَقَلْنَا مِنَ الـمَوْتِ إِلى الـحَيَاة، لأَنَّنا نُحِبُّ إِخْوَتَنَا. ومَنْ لا يُحِبُّ يَبْقَى في الـمَوْت. 15 كُلُّ مَنْ يُبْغِضُ أَخاهُ يَكُونُ قاتِلاً، وتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ كُلَّ قَاتِلٍ لا تَكُونُ لَهُ حَيَاةٌ أَبَدِيَّةٌ ثَابِتَةٌ فِيه. 16 بهـذَا عَرَفْنَا الـمَحَبَّة، أَنَّ الـمَسِيحَ بَذَلَ نَفْسَهُ في سَبيلِنَا، فَعَلَيْنَا نَحْنُ أَيْضًا أَنْ نَبْذُلَ أَنفُسَنَا في سَبيلِ إِخوَتِنَا. 17 مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ خَيْرَاتُ الدُّنْيَا، ورأَى بِأَخِيهِ حَاجَة، فأَغْلَقَ أَحشَاءَهُ دُونَ أَخِيه، فكَيْفَ تُقِيمُ فِيهِ مَـحَبَّةُ الله؟ 18 أَيُّهَا الأَبْنَاء، لا تَكُنْ مَحَبَّتُنَا بِالكَلامِ أَو بِاللِّسَانِِ بَلْ بالعَمَلِ والـحَقّ. 19 بِهـذَا نَعْرِفُ أَنَّنَا مِنَ الـحَقّ، فتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُنَا أَمامَ الله. 20 فإِذَا كانَ قَلْبُنَا يَلُومُنَا، فَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ قَلْبِنَا، ويَعْرِفُ كُلَّ شَيء. 21 أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاء، إِذَا كانَ قَلْبُنَا لا يَلُومُنَا، تَكُونُ لنا ثِقَةٌ أَمامَ الله. 22 ومَهْمَا نَطْلُبُ مِنْهُ بِالصَّلاةِ نَنَالُهُ، لأَنَّنا نَحْفَظُ وَصَايَاه، ونَعْمَلُ مَا هُوَ مَرْضِيٌّ أَمَامَهُ.
Evangile Arabic	25 وَكانَ جُمُوعٌ كَثِيرُونَ سَائِرِينَ مَعَهُ، فالْتَفَتَ وَقالَ لَهُم: 26 "إِنْ يَأْتِ أَحَدٌ إِليَّ وَلا يُبْغِضْ أَبَاهُ، وَأُمَّهُ، وامْرَأَتَهُ، وَأَوْلادَهُ، وَإِخْوَتَهُ، وَأَخَوَاتِهِ، حَتَّى نَفْسَهُ أَيْضًا، لا يَقْدِرْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لي تِلْمِيذًا. 27 وَمَنْ لا يَحْمِلْ صَلِيبَهُ وَيَتَبعْنِي، لا يَقْدِرْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لي تِلْمِيذًا. 28 فَمَنْ مِنْكُم يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْنِيَ بُرْجًا، وَلا يَجْلِسُ أَوَّلاً فَيَحْسُبُ نَفَقَتَهُ، إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ مَا يَكْفِي لإِكْمَالِهِ؟ 29 لِئَلاَّ يَضَعَ الأَسَاسَ وَيَعْجَزَ عَنْ إِتْمَامِهِ، فَيَبْدَأَ جَمِيعُ النَّاظِرينَ يَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُ 30 وَيَقُولُون: هـذَا الرَّجُلُ بَدَأَ بِبِنَاءٍ وَعَجِزَ عَنْ إِتْمَامِهِ. 31 أَوْ أَيُّ مَلِكٍ يَنْطَلِقُ إِلى مُحَارَبَةِ مَلِكٍ آخَرَ مِثْلِهِ، وَلا يَجْلِسُ أَوَّلاً وَيُفَكِّرُ هَلْ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُقَاوِمَ بِعَشَرَةِ آلافٍ ذَاكَ الآتِيَ إِلَيْهِ بِعِشْرِينَ أَلْفًا؟ 32 وَإِلاَّ فَمَا دَامَ ذَاكَ بَعِيدًا عَنْهُ، يُرْسِلُ إِلَيْهِ وَفْدًا يَلْتَمِسُ مَا يَؤُولُ إِلى السَّلام. 33 هـكذَا إِذًا، كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُم لا يَتَخَلَّى عَنْ كُلِّ مُقْتَنَيَاتِهِ، لا يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي تِلْمِيذًا. 34 جَيِّدٌ هُوَ الـمِلْح، وَلـكِنْ إِذَا فَسُدَ الـمِلْح، فَبِمَاذَا يُعَادُ إِلَيْهِ طَعْمُهُ؟ 35 فَلا يَصْلُحُ لِلأَرْضِ وَلا لِلْمِزْبَلة، فَيُطْرَحُ خَارِجًا. مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ سَامِعَتَانِ فَلْيَسْمَعْ!".

Lecture French	11 Tel est le message que vous avez entendu depuis le commencement : aimons-nous les uns les autres. 12 Ne soyons pas comme Caïn : il appartenait au Mauvais et il égorgea son frère. Et pourquoi l’a-t-il égorgé ? Parce que ses œuvres étaient mauvaises : au contraire, celles de son frère étaient justes. 13 Ne soyez pas étonnés, frères, si le monde a de la haine contre vous. 14 Nous, nous savons que nous sommes passés de la mort à la vie, parce que nous aimons nos frères. Celui qui n’aime pas demeure dans la mort. 15 Quiconque a de la haine contre son frère est un meurtrier, et vous savez que pas un meurtrier n’a la vie éternelle demeurant en lui. 16 Voici comment nous avons reconnu l’amour : lui, Jésus, a donné sa vie pour nous. Nous aussi, nous devons donner notre vie pour nos frères. 17 Celui qui a de quoi vivre en ce monde, s’il voit son frère dans le besoin sans faire preuve de compassion, comment l’amour de Dieu pourrait-il demeurer en lui ? 18 Petits enfants, n’aimons pas en paroles ni par des discours, mais par des actes et en vérité. 19 Voilà comment nous reconnaîtrons que nous appartenons à la vérité, et devant Dieu nous apaiserons notre cœur ; 20 car si notre cœur nous accuse, Dieu est plus grand que notre cœur, et il connaît toutes choses. 21 Bien-aimés, si notre cœur ne nous accuse pas, nous avons de l’assurance devant Dieu. 22 Quoi que nous demandions à Dieu, nous le recevons de lui, parce que nous gardons ses commandements, et que nous faisons ce qui est agréable à ses yeux.
Evangile French	25 De grandes foules faisaient route avec Jésus ; il se retourna et leur dit : 26 « Si quelqu’un vient à moi sans me préférer à son père, sa mère, sa femme, ses enfants, ses frères et sœurs, et même à sa propre vie, il ne peut pas être mon disciple. 27 Celui qui ne porte pas sa croix pour marcher à ma suite ne peut pas être mon disciple. 28 Quel est celui d’entre vous qui, voulant bâtir une tour, ne commence par s’asseoir pour calculer la dépense et voir s’il a de quoi aller jusqu’au bout ? 29 Car, si jamais il pose les fondations et n’est pas capable d’achever, tous ceux qui le verront vont se moquer de lui : 30 “Voilà un homme qui a commencé à bâtir et n’a pas été capable d’achever !” 31 Et quel est le roi qui, partant en guerre contre un autre roi, ne commence par s’asseoir pour voir s’il peut, avec dix mille hommes, affronter l’autre qui marche contre lui avec vingt mille ? 32 S’il ne le peut pas, il envoie, pendant que l’autre est encore loin, une délégation pour demander les conditions de paix. 33 Ainsi donc, celui d’entre vous qui ne renonce pas à tout ce qui lui appartient ne peut pas être mon disciple. 34 C’est une bonne chose que le sel ; mais si le sel lui-même se dénature, avec quoi lui rendra-t-on sa saveur ? 35 Il ne peut servir ni pour la terre, ni pour le fumier : on le jette dehors ! Celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, qu’il entende ! »

Lecture English	11 * For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another,f 12 unlike Cain who belonged to the evil one and slaughtered his brother. Why did he slaughter him? Because his own works were evil, and those of his brother righteous.g 13 Do not be amazed, [then,] brothers, if the world hates you.h 14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. Whoever does not love remains in death.i 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.j 16 The way we came to know love was that he laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.k 17 If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him?l 18 Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.m Confidence before God.* 19 [Now] this is how we shall know that we* belong to the truth and reassure our hearts before him 20 in whatever our hearts condemn, for God is greater than our hearts and knows everything. 21 Beloved, if [our] hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence in God 22 and receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.n
Evangile English	25 Great crowds were traveling with him, and he turned and addressed them, 26 l “If any one comes to me without hating his father* and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.m 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.n 28 Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? 29 Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him 30 and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.’ 31 Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? 32 But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. 33 In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.o The Simile of Salt.* 34 “Salt is good, but if salt itself loses its taste, with what can its flavor be restored?p 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.”q
