Lecture Arabic	1 وأَنْتُم أَنْفُسُكُم تَعْلَمُونَ، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَة، أَنَّ دُخُولَنَا إِلَيْكُم لَمْ يَكُنْ باطِلاً. 2 ولـكِنْ، كَمَا تَعلَمُون، بَعْدَ أَنْ تَأَلَّمْنَا وشُتِمْنَا في فِيلِبِّي، تَجَرَّأْنَا بإِلـهِنَا أَنْ نُكَلِّمَكُم بإِنْجِيلِ الله، في جِهَادٍ كَثِير. 3 ولَمْ يَكُنْ وَعْظُنَا عَنْ ضَلال، ولا عَنْ نَجَاسَة، ولا بِمَكْر، 4 بَلْ كَمَا اخْتَبَرَنَا اللهُ فَأَمَّنَنَا على الإِنْجِيل، هـكَذَا نَتَكَلَّم، لا إِرْضَاءً لِلنَّاسِ بَلْ للهِ الَّذي يَخْتَبِرُ قُلُوبَنَا. 5 فَإِنَّنا ولا مَرَّةً أَتَيْنَاكُم بِكَلِمَةِ تَمَلُّق، كَمَا تَعْلَمُون، ولا بِدَافِعِ طَمَع، واللهُ شَاهِد، 6 ولا طَلَبْنَا مَجْدًا مِنْ بَشَر، لا مِنْكُم ولا مِنْ غَيرِكُم، 7 معَ أَنَّنَا قادِرُونَ أَنْ نَكُونَ ذَوِي وَقَار، كَرُسُلٍ لِلمَسِيح، لـكِنَّنَا صِرْنَا بَيْنَكُم ذَوِي لُطْف، كَمُرْضِعٍ تَحْتَضِنُ أَوْلادَهَا. 8 وهـكَذَا فَإِنَّنَا مِنْ شِدَّةِ الـحَنِينِ إِلَيْكُم، نَرْتَضِي أَنْ نُعْطِيَكُم لا إِنْجِيلَ اللهِ وحَسْب، بَلْ أَنْفُسَنَا أَيْضًا، لأَنَّكُم صِرْتُم لَنَا أَحِبَّاء. 9 وإِنَّكُم تَتَذكَّرُون، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَة، تَعَبَنَا وكَدَّنَا: فَلَقَد بَشَّرْنَاكُم بِإِنْجيلِ الله، ونَحْنُ نَعْمَلُ لَيْلَ نَهَار، لِئَلاَّ نُثَقِّلَ عَلى أَحَدٍ مِنْكُم. 10 أَنْتُم شُهُود، واللهُ شَاهِد، كَيْفَ كُنَّا مَعَكُم، أَنْتُمُ الـمُؤْمِنِين، في نَقَاوَةٍ وبِرٍّ وبِغَيرِ لَوم، 11 نُعامِلُ كُلاًّ مِنْكُم، كَمَا تَعْلَمُون، مُعَامَلَةَ الأَبِ لأَوْلادِهِ. 12 وكُنَّا نُنَاشِدُكُم، ونُشَجِّعُكُم، ونَحُثُّكُم على أَنْ تَسْلُكُوا مَسْلَكًا يَلِيقُ بالله، الَّذي يَدْعُوكُم إِلى مَلَكُوتِهِ ومَجْدِهِ. 13 لِذـلِكَ نَحْنُ أَيضًا نَشكُرُ اللهَ بغيرِ انْقِطَاع، لأَنَّكُم لَمَّا تَلَقَّيْتُم كَلِمَةَ الله الَّتي سَمِعْتُمُوهَا مِنَّا، قَبِلْتُمُوهَا لا بِأَنَّهَا كَلِمَةُ بَشَر، بَلْ بِأَنَّهَا حَقًّا كَلِمَةُ الله. وإِنَّهَا لَفَاعِلَةٌ فيكُم، أَيُّهَا الـمُؤْمِنُون.
Evangile Arabic	38 وَفيمَا كَانُوا سَائِرين، دَخَلَ يَسُوعُ إِحْدَى القُرَى، فاسْتَقْبَلَتْهُ في بَيتِهَا امْرَأَةٌ اسْمُها مَرْتا. 39 وَكانَ لِمَرْتَا أُخْتٌ تُدْعَى مَرْيَم. فَجَلَسَتْ عِنْدَ قَدَمَي الرَّبِّ تَسْمَعُ كَلامَهُ. 40 أَمَّا مَرْتَا فَكانَتْ مُنْهَمِكَةً بِكَثْرَةِ الـخِدْمَة، فَجَاءَتْ وَقَالَتْ: "يَا رَبّ، أَمَا تُبَالي بِأَنَّ أُخْتِي تَرَكَتْنِي أَخْدُمُ وَحْدِي؟ فَقُلْ لَهَا أَنْ تُسَاعِدَنِي!". 41 فَأَجَابَ الرَّبُّ وَقَالَ لَهَا: "مَرْتا، مَرْتا، إِنَّكِ تَهْتَمِّينَ بِأُمُورٍ كَثِيرَة، وَتَضْطَرِبِين! 42 إِنَّمَا الـمَطْلُوبُ وَاحِد! فَمَرْيَمُ اخْتَارَتِ النَّصِيبَ الأَفْضَل، وَلَنْ يُنْزَعَ مِنْهَا".

Lecture French	01 Frères, vous le savez bien vous-mêmes, notre venue chez vous n’a pas été inutile. 02 Nous venions de souffrir et d’être outragés à Philippes, comme vous le savez ; nous avons cependant trouvé en notre Dieu pleine assurance pour vous annoncer, au prix de grandes luttes, l’Évangile de Dieu. 03 Et quand nous vous exhortions, ce n’était pas avec des doctrines fausses, ni des motifs impurs, ni par ruse. 04 En effet, pour nous confier l’Évangile, Dieu a éprouvé notre valeur, de sorte que nous parlons, non pas pour plaire aux hommes, mais à Dieu, lui qui met nos cœurs à l’épreuve. 05 Jamais, nous n’avons eu un mot de flatterie, vous le savez, jamais de motifs intéressés, Dieu en est témoin ; 06 jamais nous n’avons recherché la gloire qui vient des hommes, ni auprès de vous ni auprès d’autres personnes. 07 Alors que nous aurions pu nous imposer en qualité d’apôtres du Christ, au contraire, nous avons été pleins de douceur avec vous, comme une mère qui entoure de soins ses nourrissons. 08 Ayant pour vous une telle affection, nous aurions voulu vous donner non seulement l’Évangile de Dieu, mais jusqu’à nos propres vies, car vous nous étiez devenus très chers. 09 Vous vous rappelez, frères, nos peines et nos fatigues : c’est en travaillant nuit et jour, pour n’être à la charge d’aucun d’entre vous, que nous vous avons annoncé l’Évangile de Dieu. 10 Vous êtes témoins, et Dieu aussi, de notre attitude si sainte, si juste et irréprochable envers vous, les croyants. 11 Et vous savez bien que nous avons été pour chacun de vous comme un père avec ses enfants : 12 nous vous avons exhortés et encouragés, nous vous avons suppliés d’avoir une conduite digne de Dieu, lui qui vous appelle à son Royaume et à sa gloire. 13 Et voici pourquoi nous ne cessons de rendre grâce à Dieu : quand vous avez reçu la parole de Dieu que nous vous faisions entendre, vous l’avez accueillie pour ce qu’elle est réellement, non pas une parole d’hommes, mais la parole de Dieu qui est à l’œuvre en vous, les croyants.
Evangile French	38 Chemin faisant, Jésus entra dans un village. Une femme nommée Marthe le reçut. 39 Elle avait une sœur appelée Marie qui, s’étant assise aux pieds du Seigneur, écoutait sa parole. 40 Quant à Marthe, elle était accaparée par les multiples occupations du service. Elle intervint et dit : « Seigneur, cela ne te fait rien que ma sœur m’ait laissé faire seule le service ? Dis-lui donc de m’aider. » 41 Le Seigneur lui répondit : « Marthe, Marthe, tu te donnes du souci et tu t’agites pour bien des choses. 42 Une seule est nécessaire. Marie a choisi la meilleure part, elle ne lui sera pas enlevée. »

Lecture English	1 For you yourselves know, brothers, that our reception among you was not without effect. 2 Rather, after we had suffered and been insolently treated, as you know, in Philippi, we drew courage through our God to speak to you the gospel of God with much struggle.a 3 Our exhortation was not from delusion or impure motives, nor did it work through deception. 4 But as we were judged worthy* by God to be entrusted with the gospel, that is how we speak, not as trying to please human beings, but rather God, who judges our hearts.b 5 Nor, indeed, did we ever appear with flattering speech, as you know, or with a pretext for greed—God is witness— 6 nor did we seek praise from human beings, either from you or from others,c 7 although we were able to impose our weight as apostles of Christ. Rather, we were gentle* among you, as a nursing mother cares for her children. 8 With such affection for you, we were determined to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our very selves as well, so dearly beloved had you become to us. 9 You recall, brothers, our toil and drudgery. Working night and day in order not to burden any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.d 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers. 11 As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his children,e 12 exhorting and encouraging you and insisting that you conduct yourselves as worthy of the God who calls you into his kingdom and glory.f Further Thanksgiving. 13 And for this reason we too give thanks to God unceasingly, that, in receiving the word of God from hearing us, you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of God, which is now at work in you who believe.
Evangile English	38 a As they continued their journey he entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. 39 * She had a sister named Mary [who] sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. 40 Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” 41 The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. 42 * There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”
